I still can't work out what the hell Eddie did wrong?

its the new 'lets get the scum the win' rule, obviously.....
That was bizarre to the point of disgraceful... If that had decided the game... AAARRRRRGGHH

We should have won by 4 goals.... Dominated inside 50s as well as marks inside 50s and only one by a point!

Anyway....
Setters was good tonight... He's on my 'maybe' list, so great to see him play welll

Great to see the '2nd tier' players dominate tonight... Our stars (Martin, Cripps were well held), then again, we shut down theirs!

Great win... Loved the banner during Teague's presser...
'Blues beat Bombers by a point for first time since 99 prelim final'.....
THAT'S WHY IT'S BETTER than winning by 4 goals

Go Blues

AFL should be thanking us we won otherwise they’d really have to explain that appalling series of decisions. What happened to being blocked off the ball?

Have seen none of it apart from the score. Just wanted to say suck shit you @#$%&! cheating cauliflower, I couldn't think of a result that would make me happier. I don't care if we don't win another game for the year.

No idea

As I see it (according to https://s.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL%20Tenant/AFL/Files/2019%20Laws%20of%20Australian%20Football.pdf...

Eddie encroached the 10m protected area before Saad left the goal square. This happened before he was illegally blocked by Gleeson (#8).

However...Redman (#27) had not vacated the protected area as he was required to do.

Therefore, it is possible that two players from opposing teams were in breach of the rule simultaneously, which should have seen play restarted with a ball-up (at the top of the square, I presume).

Finally, regarding the 50m penalty, the free-kick should be awarded 69m from the goal line (9m goal square + 10m protected zone + 50 m penalty).

Mr Plow is usually pretty solid but had a shit one.

Loved Cuningham's game. Levi huge but out of batteries in the last.

Good win being a man down and with Cripps being held.

He did some pretty important stuff on a flat battery then.

Luke Darcy potting Gibbs. What a moron.

Didn't think Cunningham was that great. His first four quarter game, yes, but his kicking was poor. Missed plenty of targets. Stood up on a night I thought Langford beat Cripps comfortably.

Midfield was pretty one way tonight. Not a lot of gut running to support the back six. Most of their scores came from turnovers and no one dropping back to help out. Criticised them for being too conscious of getting goal side two weeks ago so I'll live with it.

Plowman smashed Stringer tonight. Pittonet the difference in the last quarter.

Thought Gibbons was very good. Murphy lifted heaps tonight, not just his class and poise, but he really got stuck in and took some licks.

Docherty was class all night. Casboult BOG over the whole game. McGovern clutch.

Reckon Walsh could do with a spell, but nothing to be gained from it either without a genuine reserves. Does Kennedy's form warrant it? Walsh's has been putrid at times.

That Eddie 50 a joke.

Walsh was one of our best at least 10, probably best 6-7, maybe it’s expectation vs reality?

Kennedy for Walsh? On what planet?

Pros:

2-2. Been a long it's been since we've got off to a reasonable start to the year.
Always nice to beat Essendon*.
Good poise in coming from behind.
Great to win a game with Cripps relatively quiet.
Docherty was magnificent.
Hollywood Cuningham! Pity he missed those 2 goals, but fantastic to see him find so much ball. Hope he finds some real confidence and belief. Also hope he plays out the season without picking up an injury.
Really pleased to see Setterfield winning inside ball.
Casboult and McGovern were very good.
Another good game from Gibbo and Pittonet.
Weitering solid again.
Really like what I saw from Williamson.
Newnes was solid again.
Solid games again from Jones and Plowman.
Ed did a job on Shiel. Despite some theatrics from Shiel in the desire to win some frees.
Good to see Walsh find some ball again.
Phip looked nervous. But he kept Saad quiet.

Cons:

Another injury in the opening minutes.
Those 2 rubbish 50s. Does any other team get penalised 50s? Saw a number of 50s in the GWS vs. Collingwood game that were ignored.
Inaccuracy.
There was a lot of pushing out in the marking contests, I thought. Seemed to get a stiff run from the umps there.

Did a great job defensively against the opposition's most dangerous forward in Tipungwuti. Like to see him find more ball. But did his job.

Quite right.

Rules stipulate that ALL players must exit the protected area, not just ours. Plus the blocking.

Umpire stuffed up any way you look at it.

Now will the AFL own up.

Tell him he's dreaming

Thanks, I appreciate the sentiment;although not quite sure if it's a compliment or an insult.

Unfortunately, I was a bit indisposed, drugged up in an anaesthetic, post-op stupor, so unable to comment...
