Down that the world is on it's knees?

Feeling blue that you don't get to watch the blues?

Fear not, I have the solution!

Similar to a book club, let's start a video club, one of us posts youtube footage of a memorable quarter, goal, match, player highlights .......anything (footy related). Doesn't have to be great, can be quirky or even awful (Pagans last game v North for example, or was the Brittain?)

Then we can discuss for a week, what was good what was bad, you know chew the fat so to speak.

So who's with me?

I'll start with this, initial thoughts, 13 marks from Sticks, now you won't get 13 marks inside 50 from a team. High scoring game, how long did they give him to line up? What would happen these days? Who was there? I bet the bus and train ride was one of the better ones!

Started his run up about a minute after taking the mark.

Does the 30 second rule these days, still apply after the siren?

And Pagan's last game was against Brisbane in Brisbane, with Brown kicking 10. (I still remember walking out as Brown was walking in to kick that 10th goal)

Must be the Brittain one I'm thinking of. We only had one player trying and he get reported..... Angwin.
Or was that just a crap memory?

13 marks is a sensational effort.
It set the scene for the next 30 years whereby we bomb it long to our marking forwards instead of looking for someone on the lead.
Last time someone took 13 marks in a Carlton game was the Brisbane game last year when we bombed it long to Harry McKay and Harris Andrews took 16 marks as a sweeper.

I can't even remember this game. I was at the GF, though a few weeks later.
Them were the days.

I was there... I still have nightmares

This may have been the game I yelled over the fence "who the f*%k is on Power?"

Brownie ran past and surprisingly answered me - his response... "Good question"

You might be thinking of the 20 goal loss to Norf.

Yeah, but to be fair, it was a SAAB so that's a win for those of us who don't like Edelstein....
One if the few games I walked out early.... My kids were in shock...
#handballing around to get Spider Burton a goal.... Errrrr

Go Blues

I can't ask my secretary to search and look for links to great 3 quarters by Carlton teams which started the saying "Premiership Quarter". It was a Carlton thing and it happened regularly.

If someone has the inkling it would be a great statement for the footy world circa 2020 to collate classic 3rd quarters (and there's many of them) that influenced the saying

Slogan created by the Carlton dynasties....

Carlton created........and been searching to do ever since.

It will happen again....it started last game against the reigning Premier.
If Cunners snagged his shot, Jack didn't pass off, same Murph to Setters, umpires etc etc and we won last week...it would have been due to Jack Martin's Premiership Quarter.

Pretty sure Premiership Quarter was a David Parkinism, so it probably pre-dated his first tenure as Carlton Coach (1981) - I dare say he was using the term in his stint as Hawthorn coach in the late 70’s, but certainly Carlton made it their own in their dual Premiership years of 1981/82 - where we regularly kicked 6 plus goals in the third quarter to get back into an win games.

I thought the saying "Premiership Quarter" started in the late 70's

That was the last round of 2003 from memory. We lost by 20 goals.

The next year we went out and recruited stars like Harford, Digby Morell and our current coach.

Great memory, I was there that day.

I wonder when was the last time Carlton kicked 20 goals in a match?

Ok nearly a week on and this is obviously extremely popular  onward I go though.

I'm posting the following because I watched it with my son today. I went on to explain that I had to go to a wedding the day of this game and have always regretted it. "You're pathetic dad"

Please feel free to share your memories of this game, I assume it rates very highly with some here.
