Thanks for the offer Liam.
Not for me. Hopefully someone will go and enjoy it a lot.
Cheers.

Last night the club held a zoom chat with guernsey sponsors. It was hosted by Cain Liddle (CEO), Adam Sapar (Head of Sales) and Prenda (CCO and General Counsel). It went for about 40 minutes or so. I missed the few minutes, but otherwise here’s a summary of what we heard…

    – This Saturday morning the players will pack their bags in readiness for the move to WA and will fly out to Perth immediately after the North game.

    – They will spend the first night at an airport hotel before relocating to a hotel in Joondalup, where they will quarantine for 14 days.

    – The players will have exclusive access to a 9-hole golf course at that facility to use for exercise and stretch their legs (and presumably training).

    – Generally speaking, the players and support staff have adapted to hub life well and the club has been impressed with the ability to increase the bond among all involved, especially the players.

    – Liddle spoke glowingly of the role Luke Power is playing with our young developing players.

    – As noted now in the published draw, after playing Hawthorn (also in quarantine) on 30 July we’ll have an extended break before playing West Coast on 9 August and Freo on 15 August.

    – Liddle is expecting AFL list sizes will be reduced from 46 players down to 40 for next year, a decision to help reduce operating costs.

    – Assuming the reduced list sizes are a temporary measure, no club will retain any rights to players cut this year in the event list sizes can be increased again.

    – With the cut to list sizes, Liddle thinks as many as 12 players could be moved on, which he expects will be very challenging.

    – There’s improved confidence from Liddle about our ability to land a quality free agent(s), but I guess we need to see that actually happen before getting too carried away.

    – That confidence is built on the fact we’re winning more games and the club is becoming a more attractive proposition, also backed by the forthcoming redevelopment of PP (more on that below).

    – Nick Austin has a number of contracts in place ready to be signed off when the AFL’s contract freeze ends. No players were named.

    – Uncertainty remains about the status of the VFL, however, Liddle expects we will run our own VFL team, unless the AFL dictates that all AFL clubs must align with a VFL club.

    – The club has issued tenders for building works to redevelop PP and hopes to have contracts for initial works issued within a couple of months.

    – Liddle expects that any planning issues might be helped due to covid, in that those responsible may place a preference over economic activity rather than quibbling over too many details.

    – The new facility will have a 50x25m indoor training space, the gym will double in size and the café will also increase in size.

    – The Pratt Stand will have a pavilion to improve the match day experience and be more fitting of a venue to be used as AFLW HQ.

    – Expects there will be a B&F function this year and hopes it will be a physical thing, but understand it may need to be an online only event.

Nice update. Thanks.

List size reduction I can see going many ways. Older players forced out maybe. Young players who would normally get more time chopped earlier. Middle age group getting the most leeway as that's who makes up top 8 sides.

I think we should have valid links to their player profiles.
Maybe this belongs in the left field ideas thread.
