First Carlton GF I attended was in '68. We played Essendon***, they kicked 8 goals, we kicked 7 (Brian Kekovich 4) but we won !
Bit hazy now but I remember in the last quarter Brent Crosswell unloaded a long bomb, dead on target.
It bounced in the goal square.......at right angles and Daryl Gerlach cleared it.

In the last minute or 2 Essendon*** went forward, Wes Lofts ''nudged'' Geoff Blethyn under the ball and took the mark.

Heart in mouth stuff as the ump blew the whistle. What was he gonna pay?

Wes was payed the mark !

THE END :gift: :thanks:

That was my first Carlton GF.
Blethyn went for a couple of speccys and gave away frees by going to early as I recall.

Yep,first Premiership i was fortunate to see my beloved Blues win.We kicked a heap of points which almost cost us the game.We won a Flag in '47 the year i was born but didn't make it that one.........................so,all things considered i can't complain about our current lean spell coz i have watched us win a few flags.....................as they say,its always darkest before the dawn.Reckon we ready to awaken.

Ah some great mammaries there. Three best live which gave me most enjoyment we're 70 GF when Jezza kicked that long bouncing goal I almost fainted. 79 GF to complete a wonderful season. Plus there was a game I think at home in mid 70's v Dons where we kicked 14 in a quarter. It was Jones tapped it to Armstrong or Keogh kick to goal square snap goal. Press repeat. Most enjoyed on TV was 99 prelim. I danced.

First GF I attended was 95. Some people say it was a shit game as it wasn't close but as a Carlton supporter, I was sitting there lapping it up.
It was beautiful knowing we had it in the bag early and just enjoying the feeling of victory whilst watching the game play out.

You’re not confusing that with the 1982 Grand Final are you?

For some reason I still remember it was 34 degrees on the 87 GF..
Was quite possibly the 1st game I listened to on radio, can't remember anything prior to that.

I was there. It was bloody hot...........................34 degrees is bloody hot for a footy match let alone a Grandfinal. We won, thats the main thing.First Grandfinal my eldest son attended and still talks about it to this day.

I was there to. Felt a lot hotter than 34 degrees
Tuck had long sleeves but changed to short sleeve
Can’t remember him ever wearing short sleeves any other time

According to Wikipedia, 1987 was the hottest grand final in history, and it was 30.7 degrees.

That is the greatest GF, followed by 1995 for a stress free one sided Navy Blue Day.

I went to the 1970 GF and that was something special but I was a bit too young tp absorb the mammoth task to win that one.
