I just think that the specialist small forward role is overrated. All the forwards need to be able to apply pressure to keep the ball in but that is about effort, positioning and technique which can all be taught nd pretty much any player can learn.
The mercurial goal kicker forward is great to have but only if they can maintain their a high output consistently game to game and within games. Cyril, Walters, Charlie Cameron last year all great and Papley too.
And I think we have several players who can play that role eso when we’re up and firing with 3 dominant key forwards and an effective game plan so that the smells pretty much just need to play front and centre.

However, we very much need a strong competitive ruckman to take the mantle from Kreuzer. They need to be competitive at the stoppages and competitive around the ground. I don’t need them to be dominant but we can’t let other ruckmen dictate the play at stoppages or create an additional number around the ground.
And if TDK does not turn out to be the ruckman we need, we are in trouble unless we can bring in a great mature ruckman either by paying overs for a gun or finding a diamond who has taken a while to come on at another club.

So this is a big year for us to find out whether TDK has the goods. He doesn’t need to become the man this year, but he has to show enough so that we are confident he will become the man.
(A bit like Tim English or that young dude from St Kilda whose name eludes me now... Marshalll? He doesn’t need to dominate like Marshall did towards the end of the year but show enough to convince us that he will get there before long).

Do we have room on our list for one more player?

I think we have, but have read we have no more list spots.

Good question.

Surely Brodie Kemp may l be placed onto the term injury category? creating a list vacancy should we need it.

Depends on the game plan.
Cameron won games for Freo and the other Cameron won games for Bris.
It's more than just forward pressure. It gives coaches a plan B to exercise when there is space available.
They are the new gold.

I wonder why we aren't still looking at Ireland for talent. This kid seems to be a bit of an athletic freak.

A poster on BF saying that it is a race between two players for the final spot.
Webb and Cody Hirst, who is apparently also training with the club.

Thanks Kezza. Hirst must have been the little blonde haired player I didn’t recognise at the intra-club last week.

I saw on a facebook site, so probably not true, but it was mentioned that the final spot was between Webb and Ryan Sturgess.
I happen to know a bit about Sturgress, (know his parents) so would be interesting if true.
I haven't read anywhere that he has been training at the club.

Edit.
Just saw on the AFL website that he has been invited to start training with the club in the coming weeks.
He is a defender who played for the Northern Knights, originally from St Marys.
Forgot to mention he is best friends with Sam Philp.

Do we need defenders or can he go through the midfield?

We're also inviting former Richmond listed forward Callum Moore to train with us.

It makes sense.
We have the youngest and worst rated (according to champion data) midfield in the comp.
https://www.afl.com.au/news/371619/2020 ... d-to-shine
So we should be definitely targeting a forward or a back.
:donk:
Maybe reading between the lines the club doesn't expect Charlie back at all this year.

Sack SOS :)

Reality is all three are likely to be playing a lot of VFL barring a horror injury run. I’m not sure when the last day to add a player to a list is, but I’d be waiting until that day to see if we get any more injuries and then picking the player as a back up. There’s a defender, forward and midfielder there so that covers all areas too.
