Maybe we can add Darren Milburn to the footy dept.

That ought to deal with SOS’s insolence.

Anyone who sets foot in Lygon Street is 99% there.....

So looks like we are getting Lyon.... that Grumpy rude man who will turn our team to playing Defensive footy and getting 0-0 Draws lol

On the other hand, he could really Fix our boys with his Grumpiness lol.... I don't mind trying him even though he is a Pain to watch :banghead: :banghead:

A mate of mine was at a function on Saturday night with a very senior Geelong official who said he’d heard that a deal with Voss as coach and Roos as mentor was as good as done.

I’d be ok with that.
Truthfully, I’m very glad I’m not the one having to find our next coach.
V tough gig.

Maybe I'm missing something. On what basis has he done a 'great' job?

I would say he has been ok. But great?

Given SOS is mates with the Pres will the club be able to handle the discussion around SOS's ongoing employment in a rational/professional manner?

What discussion, SOS has done a great job!

SOS was sick of Bolton questioning his decisions...

Rather than look at who should we get as coach, I would like people opinion on what we need in a coach.

I don't care whether it is an experienced coach or an assistant that has been in the system for a long time, but I don't want a sam Mitchell type that is still learning to be an assistant let alone a senior coach

Boltons biggest fail in my mind is that we haven't been able to get our top end talent to improve and go to the next level, our kids that have been in our system for 2-3 years still play like they did when they came.

I don't want a strategic coach, its a simple game and the more complicated we make it the more boring it becomes. All kids coming into the afl know how to play, we just need to get them to play harder and stronger for longer and that is where we have failed. Defensive structure are there to hide players that don't want to play harder for longer.

Next coach needs to be ruthless and push the kids to work harder and never accept that they have done enough.

...I didn't vote Clarkson but you have to make the call. As opposed to Ratten who definitely shouldn't get a call (for his own sake as well as the club's).

When given the choice between Ratten and Clarkson more people want Ratten.

Hard to fathom that thought process. 3 time Premiership Coach and one of the AFL all time great Coaches vs Ratts.

Go figure.

Geez Cazz, I don't know how old you are, but I'm old enough to remember London '87.
Personally I wouldn't want that grub Clarkson within a Bull's Roar of Carlton. Balme ditto !

On SOS and Ross, what a beat up, today I'm having lunch with one of my best mates. SHE is my friend and confidante. As much as we like each other, meeting for lunch doesn't mean we are getting it on.

You are being as intentionally naive as Jim. Of course it is a Beat up. But that's not my point. SOS and Lyon intentionally made it a 'Beat up' and they didn't have to. They just sit their smirking at the situation they know they have created.

...................If you were a married 'A list' Celeb who had split with his wife the day before and you were seen 'Having Lunch' with a Single, Blonde Bombshell 'B lister' I'm sure things might be different in the eye's of the media and the gossiping general public.

And if you still have the hates on for Clarkson does that mean you don't speak to Japanese or German people over 70yrs old, just in case?

Regards Cazzesman

I disagree that he failed the first time, but agree that if his second stint ended in failure we would pretty much be done as a club. Mind you, I reckon we're pretty much done if our present rebuild doesn't work, regardless of who the coach is.

The people who voted for Ratten probably look up their old flames on Facebook as well and wonder what it'd be like to get back together.....

 That's a great analogy Woj. And don't get me wrong - I'm a fan of Brett Ratten the person, the footballer. But he struggled with the responsibility last time around. He struggled with people relationships. He struggled with delegation and being a leader. I'm sure he's grown in these areas and I'd like to see him get a crack at another club - but not Carlton. The risk is too great.

I think while we disagree on who the new coach should and shouldn't be - we can agree that unless there is improvement in the next three years - we are monumentally stuffed.

Agree improvement and some semblance of hope most come quickly.
We have burnt two experienced and two novice coaches, this time we’ve got to get it right.
Coaching Recruiting & Player Development must be improved they’re beginning to take shape although still lagging behind.
We need to win games urgently, to help grow membership tally further our only inspirational shining light.
