What on Earth are they doing?
What on Earth are we doing?

We win the minor and lose the major by a mile.
We make the finals in the lower comp by using the rules then discover that none of the regulation players are any good. I was at the first final.

And read the list of titles in this..
barry Mitchell.
Where should XXX play.

Thank the mighty that this year is dead and buried.

To all who barracked for a spoon your dreams came true. I still cant believe you even contemplated attending and supporting the opposition.
Cashi this means YOU!!!!!

To one and all IT CANT GET ANY WORSE CAN IT? I still hope your messiah, who currently is a little 18yr old with potential as are all of the recruits, is the true son of god and not just a naughty boy!

Have a great night and I'll see you at training this week!!
Yippee!!

Footy's almost back

Get over it.. we had the worst list.. we deserved the best compensation to fix our list for the future.. and we took full toll!!!
However long it takes to make sure we have the right infrastructure for a fruitful 10 years im happy with.
what i wouldnt be happy with is having a side making up the numbers for the next 12 years...

Sorry mate!!!... but there is a big picture and a small picture..

Happy 2006!!!...

Normally I look forward to the new footy year, not this time though. I think we go back to back.

Not when footy is concerned these days no. This forum is for talking footy and it hurts me how pathetic we have become, therefore I may come across a bit of a sour puss. There is not a lot happening at Carlton to be cheery about though is there?

It's good to have a positive attitude when a New Year is just around the corner!

When was the last time a side won back-to-back spoons?

There were many times during the year when it was tough to support Carlton. But, as has been said many times on this forum, Carlton has been great for us long time (35yrs) supporters and a few years in the wilderness is not that bad. Just makes the good times even sweeter! Make no mistake we will be back with our young list as shown graphically by Blue Vain's list above. I for one am really looking forward to 2006 and beyond to see our young list grow and take on the world.
Bring on 2006!

Go Blues!

You can add Blackwell and Walker to this list.

Walker's got a lot to prove still though. Was very disappointed by his season, suffered the second year blues. His my mates best mate and he said he was a freak at college. I reckon he'll turn it on this year.
Don't know much about Blackwell really, haven't heard a lot about him. How was his vfl form.

2006 we develop more of our future and accumulate more of our future.
Heyyyy im excited!!!... i dont look at the scoreboard or the ladder... not yet!!!.. we have bigger fish to fry than win a couple of meaningless games.

Were building blocks towards the time when we have a champion side again.

I really dont get some of you.....

Well my prediction of your future is you wont stay excited very long if youre looking at markers like a scoreboard....

my prediction is that i wont get depressed by our results but by our senior players...

I'm not convinced that we will go back to back. We all know the game is played 60% to 80% above the shoulders. I think some of the boys are beginning to mature. To believe in themselves. It takes time but I think we saw a couple towards the end of the season stand up and say to themselves, "yes, I belong in this league at this level". Namely Simpson, Fisher and Bentick.

I've seen a change at training. In the past it has been French, Prenda and Kouta leading the way at training. Now they are being challenged by the likes of Bentick, Hartlett, Fisher, Simpson etc as leaders on the track. This is a sign of maturity.

The other factor that pushes you up the ladder is your core senior group. Your top 6 players. In 2004 and 2005 the only player on our list that would have been considered a top 6 selection at other AFL clubs would have been Stevens. That is the PRIME reason why we are where we are. Our top 6 players just couldn't compete. Not even Kouta would make the top 6 at most other clubs.

I think we will see some movement in this area due to the 'maturity' factor. I believe we will finally see the true 'changing of the guard'. Take Fisher as an example. Don't underestimate this kid and the season he just had. He had a full knee reconstruction. No pre season at all. Comes back mid season and plays a teriffic second half to the season.
