Not the right thread but just saw on the club website Ian Thorogood passed away.
He coached from 1976-1977.

Sad news saying he was 82 which makes me feel even older

Sad news. Had a tough job at a time of change within the team. Just before the Jezza dawn !

He did it tough at the Blues. In '76 was thrown in the deep end when Nick quit.
Missed the '76 GF by 1 point.
Last game of '77, we lost out at Footscray which put us out of the finals.
Got the flick !

Amazing how well he went.

I thought at the time when we he and we had an incredible winning streak early in the season, this guy is the guru.

RIP Thoroughly good man.

Not sure 3 tall forwards is gonna work. Need more pace and pressure in our forward half.

Good presser from Bolts I thought. Liked his confidence in the list we've now got. Liked him being quite specific in some of his responses. Beats the 'green shoots' generalities.

I thought Fasolo was the biggest contributor tot he lack of pace problem, Charlie and Harry are both quite quick.

A little birdie told me the powerbrokers at Carlton are critical of our head coach. From what I can gather, he would want to get some wins this year.

Going with Garlett in defence is a mistake.

Cuningham is playing with confidence so put him back down there and put Garlett forward until Willo is ready to resume in the seniors.

Garlett doesn’t do enough in the forwardline either. He had a stinker but I have no issue with the MC giving him another chance at half back. Until one of Willo, Marchbank or Macreadie are ready he might get a few more chances.

Cuningham has found his spot. Leave him there.

If they were going to swap Garlett to somewhere else put Walsh back there in a McGrath role and put Garlett on the wing.

I was glad to hear him say we over used the ball.
Needs to have a talk to Thomas and Simpson about their positioning, demanding the ball, their ball use and their kick ins. They are the senior members in defense and should lead by example.
