Which training reports would have Garlett playing half back ahead of Williamson?
Garlett could hardly get a game last year when we had heaps of injuries, let alone off half back. Williamson every day in the position before the flighty half committed Garlett.

This x 1,000, but encouraged by training form of Garlett

Expecting O'Brien and Walsh to be our hard running wing men, who run both ways instinctively and can deliver.

How many times was OBrien involved in a contest around the centreline last year and then the next minute he was on the last line of our defense helping out defenders.

If we can have 2 wingmen doing that this year and beyond...weapons...as both can kick a goal too.

Exactly.

Campo was a surprise packet in 95. Blitzed and took everyone by surprise in his first year.

Fantastic contested mark for his size. Broke lines.

Can see our 2 circa 2019 boys doing similar. Walsh will do it in his first year...because he can, and we all know it!

Blooody exciting.

Despite losing Pickett and his extreme pace, we have a few good quick runners like Dow Fisher Murphy....

Just did a video with my best 22 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2V5gfMVyNTM&t=1s

Eddie Betts would be really handy right about now

Good looking rooster.
Good presentation.
Everyone has their take on the best 22.Great effort.
It is a tough task fitting all contenders into 22.

Cuningham has only one 'n' not two.

Kennedy has looked fantastic in the preseason thus far. He's moving freely and much better than last year where he missed a preseason due to surgery and his ankle injury in the first half of round 1 game last year. I expect him to start round 1 before Setterfield. Setterfield has time to get fit, but he's only been running laps and recovering from an ACL.

Lang told my son he's had a good preseason thus far, so I expect an improvement: most best 22's don't even have him on their emergencies. Still not sure why you a confident he'll take the FP spot, especially given what you saw f his 'lack' of effort or 'heart' in the last game of 2018.

Bettsy would be really handy.

I expect the small FP will be Fasolo in a 5 man forward line, and shared with Fisher, Murphy, SPS with Pickett to miss due to the injury.

I expect the 7 man backline to include all your suggestions including Plowman.

Running ability of O'Brien and Walsh will be handy this year.

I expect Bugg to play round 1 too.

Nice article, a few comments:
- natural improvement from SPS and O'Brien will also bolster our midfield (not just Fisher, Dow and Kennedy).
- I doubt Casboult will play many games unless our injury list is very long (McGovern should take his spot).
- Charlie Curnow and McKay will continue to improve and should be a handful for opposition teams. Weitering and Marchbank are exciting prospects as well (Marchbank needs a good run with injury).
- We had a long injury list and a dismal "bottom six" players last year. Our depth has improved and should have more luck with injury this year.

It feels like it’s up to the coaching now. Hard pressed to find a shit player on our list now.

I'm just not seeing what most of you are with O'Brien yet. He looked a couple of years away physically. Also his kicking while it can be brilliant at times; was a little inconsistent and prone to the odd horrendous turnover.
A good prospect no doubt, but don't think he's best 22 yet and needs a year mostly in the NB's to hone his craft.
On the other hand I expect Walsh to take to AFL like a duck to water, he will probably have the best first year from any player we've seen for some time...he is that good.

This is where I see our immediate improvement

Yes injuries as well, but this is a contact sport, we will always have injuries, so our bit players are important. I like our list for the first time in "ages"

I think our depth has increased and our overall list is better shape then it has been for a while. That said, we have lost a lot of experience. Fasolo, McGovern, Walsh, Stocker, Newman, Setterfield all have potential to be better than who they replaced, if they aren't already.

Wright (159)---------------------- Fasolo (101)
Shaw (104)----------------------- Vacant
Rowe (99) ------------------------ McGovern (48)
Mullett (98) ---------------------- Walsh (0)
O'Shea (92) --------------------- Stocker (0)
A Silvagni (60) ------------------ Goddard (10)
Kerridge (69)--------------------- Bugg (96)
Lamb (66)------------------------ Newman (31)
Graham (48)--------------------- Setterfield (2)
Byrne (22) ---------------------- O'Dwyer (0)
Glass-McCasker (0) ------------ B Silvagni (0)
McDaid (0) --------------------- Owies (0)

Agreed

Other than Wright and Silvagni i dont consider any of the others as Best 22.
In fact, I thought Wright was slowing down and Alex couldn't get on the park, so their days were numbered too.

Well Bugg isn't an improvement on Kerridge after all!

Go Blues
