I recall years ago bemoaning how rubbish the EPL was because of the elitist gap at the top end. Sadly, that's what the AFL has become, mostly by their own doing, ably assisted/coerced by the broadcasters.

I also wonder how instrumental Dangerfield, Scott and Whateley we’re in us playing in Geelong for the 2nd year in a row.

It’s great that they get a bye in round 23

Two years running now they get the worst team of the year before in the last round. Not that they'll need it this year.

Why do we always play Melbourne at the G.....it’s not like they draw a big crowd.

Another crap draw for us.
For the second year in a row we only get 15 games in Melbourne.
I have a home and away membership and this year I will be cancelling the away part. It cost an extra $135 and we only get 4 away games. It will be cheaper to pay as I go at a cost of $25 a game.
What is with playing at Geelong again?
The drug cheats get looked after and this makes me sick.
4 interstate games in the first 9 rounds, thanks AFL.
Good summary, little desire to have a membership at all

We get what we deserve. We had a poor year and it reflects in our draw.
I sympathise with Kezza but I'll definitely be keeping my reserved seats. It's going to be enjoyable watching the resurgence and yes, I'm definitely expecting a resurgence. To see Fisher, Dow, O'Brien, DeKoning, Charlie and co with a pre season under their belts is going to be good value for the members IMHO.

you've already made your mind up...?

That's the reality unfortunately. Lose the first 3 then the Suns round 4 and the jungle drums will be making a very loud noise. Could be all over.

On the other hand we might end up 2-2 at 4 rounds then we'll feel quite happy with ourselves.

We'll win against the Tigers so it won't be an issue.

We are going to get treated like shite until we start winning games consistently. It's indicative of how far we've fallen that we play Essendon** and Collingwood once! I think the AFL took a punt on us having a good season in 2018 hence the number of Friday night games, no chance of that happening again.

It’s hard to improve your side when you’re not a #destinationclub and it’s difficult to raise your brand when you’re playing the Sunday roast time slot

Shit commercially. But the footy department will be pretty stoked I reckon. Lots of consecutive 7 day breaks. Lots of day games. Lots of opportunity to build momentum.

Good for me personally as well. Night games are a write off with kids for me. I'll probably come down for two and head to sydney for two this year.

I agree with Niall's assessment that it's a fixture more likely to see improvement in our team.

In terms of building our supporter and member base, it's @#$%&! diabolical.

Our supporter base was built on Saturday games like everyone else in Vic.

When you only win two games, there are no easy matches.

True, but for new supporters it's all about "PRIMETIME"

So while this fixture does prevent us from the type of scrutiny and ridicule we experienced in 2018, it also can have the opposite effect of making us an irrelevant entity.

Dunno what kezza is talking about, all the games are interstate. We haven't played in Canberra since GWS were boys.

Our draw doesn't bother me too much, the draw given to the drug cheats* well that's something else altogether.

I'm just looking forward to seeing the meedya scramble when we stick it up the Tiggers in Round 1.
