Really good player in the premiership year.

Good fella to have a beer withtoo.

This guy somehow always found the best party in town.
We partied together, not regularly, but when we did, this guy was a stayer.

Good fun. Good bloke. Good Carltonian.

RIP

Terribly sad news. One of my favorites back in the day. That team from the Grand Final in 79 was a team unlike we will see too many times again. NO wonder he found it a hard team to break into and ended up playing so few games for Carlton. Oh, to have that problem again soon. Rest in peace Michael. Best wishes from all Carlton supporters to his family and friends as they come to terms with his passing and remember him

RIP Michael Young.

I had the pleasure of playing a round of golf with Mick 20 or so years ago at Twin Waters on the Sunshine Coast.

Mick was teamed up to play with me and a mate, as he was there on his own (on holidays I presume). I remember him noticing that I was wearing a pair of Carlton socks, and also telling him about the Jack Newton Celebrity golf that was played there with players including Sam Newman and Mark Maclure taking part.

I felt a bit ignorant not knowing about his playing days with Carlton, let alone the fact that he was a premiership player. I began following the Blues in about '82, just after Mick's time at the Club.

Not long after the game of golf, I purchased an old footy card of Mick to remember what was a special day.

For the record, Mick won the golf.

And cancer can get stuffed.

Our nickname for him back in the day was, "Two Goals"
The video package shows him kicking a goal v Melbourne at Waverley. He gets hit after he kicks it and umpire awards him another kick and another goal. Broke plenty of games open with his dash. Marchesani was supposed to be a star but was a poor man's Mick Young.
