My first and only highlight for the year
First game ever for my 5 year old granddaughter. Car vs Ess
Hasn't been to another game yet. Perfect record 1:0

We were very good in the 1st quarter against Richmond in Round 1.
Then everything turns to shit after that.

I accept that people have lives to lead...but if you attended only one game in 2018 it had to be this one. I chose not to go to plenty of games this year...including last night...but to me it showed a complete lack of @#$%&! respect from the majority of Carlton supporters who couldn't drag themselves along to see a Carlton champion play his 300th. 20,000. More should have been made of it. If there was a 'hand in the keys' moment from season 2018, that was it.

Agree Doc. My son was in Melb that week and was lucky enough to be at the game. Watching his videos and seeing how sparse the crowd was left me feeling incredibly sad and depressed.

Our situation is dire. Another year like this next year and we’ll have another ‘hand in the keys’ scenario.

To me the crowd at that game was indicative of the entitled culture our supporters feel.

Along with the first GC game and our injury toll, this was the lowest in a season filled with lows.

Con: Simmo's 300th. Only 20,000 Carlton supporters showed up to the MCG for this. There's either no way we have close to 56,000 members...or most Melbourne-based Carlton supporters are complete morons. I suspect both.

I don’t live in Melbourne and this was the only match I’ve attended for several years so I’m glad I’m confirmed as not being a moron.

Pro:
- Crippa, Dow, Harry and Charlie
- list-management under SOS, I still believe
- 300 games for Kade
- Beating Essendon* and ruining their finals chances
- Chris Judd as Football Director, he gives me confidence every time he speaks on Classified about the club

Con:
- Injury & fitness management, as bad as any club has ever experienced in the AFL era
- The handling and non-handling of Matthew Kennedy's ankle injury
- Poor week to week game-planning, shambolic, players looked confused in too many games
- 10 goal plus hidings are confidence and club killers, we are losing a generation of supporters
- It is time to move John Barker out the door following Tim Clarke

What do you mean by entitled culture?
I reckon our crowds have been reasonable despite stinking it up for 15 years.
Carlton fans have done well.

The feeling that we are owed and entitled to success, and unless it is delivered to us we're not going to bother.

The day to put this aside was Simpson's 300th, our supporters failed.

Woeful year. Our new attacking game plan has successfully resulted in us barely getting beyond 50 points and the opposition scoring freely.

Yeah, it's pretty interesting. We scored 1353 points this year. Compared to 1594 last year, and 1568 the year before. We all know there have been some mitigating circumstances. But it tells you we clearly got it tactically wrong this year. At least we could see what we were doing in 2016-2017. But this year we've failed to either defend or score. :banghead:

Nothing short of a disaster this year .
Worst record since 1901
Lowest ever winning percentage games played as against games won
% below 60
Average points difference of 42.2 ( over 7 goals a game )
3 losses over 100
Worst attendance since 2003 and considering we played 8 games at Princes Park with reduced capacity it is even more dire.

Players not improving

This by any stretch is bleak.

The club has got this all wrong
And those of you who think 2020 or 21 it will all turn around need to consider this.
If we turn players over at the AFL average of 7 players a year. By the time 2021 comes 21 of the current players will not be with us that is almost half the list.

As the club goes into another off season once again they need to take a long look at themselves.
Because if this is a plan I would hate to see the solution

Chris Judd's cohesion indicator may mean we back of 7 changes per year for 19 & 20 seasons. Hopefully instead of 21 changes by 2021 it will be closer to 16 (including natural retirements for Kruz, Murphy, Kade, etc).

By then we hopefully also will have filled in the 23-25 age bracket, currently a gigantic void, via our own 2016/17/18 recruits.

Charlie, Harry and Fish all improved significantly.
Weitering, SPS and Byrne finished off the year quite well.
Dow and O'Brien showed improvement during the year and I'm looking forward to watching them next year after a full pre-season. Also DeKoning looks to have a bright future.
Hopefully the likes of Marchbank, Williamson, Macreadie and Cunningham can stay clear of injury next year.

Wooden spoon. It doesn't get any worse than that. Dog shi*t at the moment, but that's reality for the Carlton supporter. My only highlight was beating Essendon*. Other than that, this year sucks arse big time. Can't wait for it to be over. About the only thing that could change my mood is a 1st division lotto win, and the way I feel, I think I got more chance of that happening than this club turning things around. pfft!

The list manager got exactly the results he was after, bottom 3 or 4 and lots of games into players who's development they want to fast track .

Outcome possibly better than expected due to injuries and has even opened the door for a PP.

For the rest of us it's a disaster and the club is actually in a massive stinking pit that's going to take an enormous amount of good administration and a fair chunk of luck to get out of.

1964 was our previous worst season finishing 10th just ahead of South Melbourne and Fitzroy (who were winless ) but this year was just @#$%&! horrible

We did improve in 1965 & 1966 And finished 2nd in 1967 before I saw my first flag in 1968

We can live in hope
