I remember he kept Robert Harvey quiet in a preseason match & everyone thought he was going to be a gun

Kept him to 7 touches if I remember correctly.

Jackson and Simmo played on each other at the U19 championships. Thought both were great gets at the time.

Deledio was my favourite when younger.

Simmo is 3 years older than Ryan Jackson, so this can’t be right.

Will never forget his pre season match against Richmond in 2004.

Chris Yarran never quite did enough of what I thought he was capable of ( how many games did he end up playing?) and Troy Menzel showed glimpses

Greg Kennedy was one of mine too. Towns had a great season or was having a great season is 77? but never followed it up?

Ross Ditchburn could have been something too.

Bloody good junior tennis player in his day - back when Jason Stoltenberg was ranked the No. 1 junior player in the world (same age group as Agassi, Sampras & Courier).

Founded Camp Australia with his brother while he was running around in the 1987 Carlton reserves side at age 17. They sold it 18 months ago for $400 million. Fair amount of net worth in that '87 reserves premiership with Fraser Brown in there. Unfortunately Paul Starbuck cannot lay claim to a large coffee multinational.

Met Starbuckss Dad once, he owned a pub in the bush.

Peter Motley (absolute tragedy)

Ross Ditchburn was a fav player of mine and he made it....his father became ill and he returned home to help him out on the farm.
He wasnt given the flick due to not making it...
If I wanted someone to kick straight to save my life I would have chosen Ross Ditchburn.....

Peter Motley doesnt deserve to be in the " not making it bracket".....he never got a chance...as you said absolute tragedy
...he would have made it and probably won a brownlow he was that good.

Allan Montgomery came over with Ross Ditchburn from WA and started well in the preseason but never kicked on........cant remember what happened to him though....maybe someone else can ?

From memory it was injuries for Montgomery
