Silvagni shouldn't have to worry about being a defensive forward this week. Their main rebounders I think are Harbrow and Kolodjashni so I suppose Lamb will go to one of them. None of their talls offer a real lot of rebound. We'll get a better idea of how he's travelling.

B: Simpson - Jones - Byrne
HB: Mullett - Marchbank - Plowman
C: Fisher - Cripps - SPS
HF: Garlett - C. Curnow - Thomas
F: Wright - Silvagni - Dow

Casboult - E. Curnow - Murphy

Lamb - Weitering - Cunningham - Polson

Weiters will have to play as a swingman. Going back when Jones takes a turn in the ruck, and playing forward as part of the rotation.
Let Silvagni play as a full-forward; not as a third tall or as a defensive forward. Let him play on his own terms, seeking the ball and attacking the goals.

Between Wright, Cunningham, Polson, Simpson, Byrne, Mullett, Fisher, SPS, Garlett, Dow and the Curnow's... that's a lot of blokes who can take a turn in the midfield and potentially a lot of run.

My only problem with that is Casboult going up against Witts all day worries me. He doesn't have the height or the leap or the ruckcraft to compete. If Kreuzer doesn't come up we may not have much choice given neither Phillips nor Lobbe would seem to be match fit, whilst Harry was poor in the 2s and TDK not ready for seniors yet. If we do go in with Casboult and Jones as our rucks, I'd be inclined to try Jones as first option given his leap and have Cas relieve him. Weiters then has a role down back and we doný disrupt our defence when we rest our ruckman, we get to see Jones have a run in the ruck at AFL level and rest forward to see whether his new found confidence might provide improved performance in what was until last year his primary position. And if it doesn't work we can always put Jones back to defence, Casboult to the ruck and whichever tall defender might be replaced by Jones forward. In any event, eben if Kreuzer comes up we probably have to plan around roving to a losing ruck in terms of the hit-outs.

From what I've seen so far, I reckon GC are going to be far less flaky and far more consistently competitive. Early days, but Dew looks to be doing a good job. But those conditions have got to have taken something out of their legs.

According to the player list on CFC page ... Casboult is Taller than Kreuz. From what I have seen he certainly has a bigger leap than Kreuz. He does not have the ruck craft nor the engine of Kreuz.
I thought he did pretty well in the job when Kreuz went off. My main issue is him rucking all day. He is going to need some serious help.

Yes big shift from offense to defense for them.

But yes also have to assume the slog takes something out of them especially factoring in it was R1.

Could be a ripping game.

Hope it's not ripping at all - hope we flog them by 10+ goals!

I'm uncomfortable with the fact we're expected to win this. There, i said it.

If we don’t win it, I will be disappointed.

If we are progressing as expected then we win.

If we play like last week we win. GC should be stuffed, unless they are *

Yep. This is exactly the sort of game we’d nearly always drop in previous years.

The next few weeks will be a big test for this group. If we’re going anywhere this year we need to beat all of GC, Collingwood, Norf, and WCE (Bulldogs would be a bonus).

Honourable losses won’t cut it now.

GC have a promising midfield group. Hall expected to come back in - added to Lyons, Weller, Swallow, Miller and Fiorini. People will say who? but they are likely to give Lynch, Young and Ainsworth a lot of opportunities. Witts was best on ground in Cairns too so with a sore Kreuzer and/or Casboult it will be tough. $2.75 seems excessive for GC.

Hall is a gun when fit. Without Ablett though? We have a more talented midfield without Ablett.

Agree it's going to be a physical and demanding contest , Suns are no push overs and gave plenty of talent all ver the ground , it will be very close game.
Hopefully we'll be a little fresher and win the game.

Not all teams have the ability/belief to come back from 5 goals down, so I hope we come out and blitz them early.

That would be if Kreuzer doesn't play, I reckon. Cas to ruck and a tall forward comes in.
