Looking at our list there are probably two players I wouldn't mind us loosing at the end of the year to help us long term.
Gibbs: if we could get a first and second pick for him then use the first round pick on Hopper that would be a good result for us. Gibbs has been good this year, and his experience would be missed but Hopper can seriously play!
Casboult: He's on track for 35 goals and there are several teams that could use a player like him. As a free agent, it wouldn't cost a team draft picks to sign him and if Vickery and Mayne were both worth second round picks then he would have to be too. I would only be happy to lose him however if Mckay is ready to play next year, if not we keep Cas.
Also, hope we can land Fogarty in the draft.

We couldn't get a first rounder for Gibbs last year and now you think we will get a first AND a second?

Yer dreamin'.

We got offered a first rounder, a third rounder and Jake Kelly. That was there final offer. Mark Riccuto said they would have been happy to meet in the middle, A first and a second rounder

That was the "fake news" Adelaide version just after the deadline. It subsequently came out that they wanted our second rounder back as part of the deal which meant it never got close to happening.

Well then they'll have to pay for him, which they weren't prepared to do last year.

He's far to valuable to us, as was evident on the weekend, to just hand over for a mid-teens pick and a bag of chips. Granted he might not have the same value as say a Dangerfield / Martin etc type midfielder, but that doesn't matter. What matters is (and i still can't believe that the Crows don't quite understand this part) that he is a required player and he's contracted.

You would assume, provided they don't fall in a heap, that the Crows will land pick 15-18 which clearly wont cut it for Bryce alone so they'd have to come up with something else (and you can shove your swap of second rounders up your butt!)

Im hoping Bryce stays. He;s a quality player and the last thing we need is loosing yet another quality player who will thrive at a different club.

He's finding it hard these days locating telephone boxes in which to convene meetings of the "players wanting to go home but stayed" club.

Bryce Gibbs didn't look too homesick to me on the weekend knocking up 38 possessions, 5 clearances, 6 tackles and 3 goals.
He's shown that he's a professional footballer and he gives 100% no matter where he's playing. If they offer appropriate compensation, no worries. If not, bad luck.
Gibbs is worth more to us than a late teens pick and steak knives.

Ditto. I hope he stays.

Not only will he perform for the Blues as he is, he will help us win more games, and he'll expedite the development of our plethora of kids.
In addition to his current contract, he can play for another couple years on top of that too, imo.

Gibbs is too important to Carlton to give away for a pick in the teens and 30's.

There should be more of it! ie 1 club players.

I hope he sets the scene for more of that to happen in the future.

If you can't get a top 8 draft pick for Gibbs why would you trade him? If our youngsters develop fast like Cripps has, then we could be playing finals in 2 years when Gibbs is 30 years old. As soon as our young batch hit 50 games and with support of Murphy and Gibbs then who knows what could happen.

Carlton have reinforced their vow to rebuild the club via youthful elite talent by signing a trio of their most promising teenagers, along with powerful 20-year-old Charlie Curnow.

Heading into their bye, the Blues on Friday re-signed first-round draft picks Curnow, Harry McKay and Sam Petrevski-Seton, along with budding 18-year-old midfielder Zac Fisher.

Carlton will now work to complete new contract negotiations with Hamish Macreadie and Tom Williamson – both solid performers in 2017 – along with Irishman Ciaran Byrne.

Trigg added that contracts for Curnow's brother Ed and former Giant Andrew Phillips were also quietly extended by the club in recent weeks.
