Rapt to have her on board but have to ask,

Have we given up too much to get her across? 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks. Sounds a lot.

How will we get Tayla Harris across now?

What a steal. Draft picks this year will be next to useless given the draft pool will be shallow, most good players got picked up last year so the majorty of this draft will be filled by 18 year olds or older codehoppers.

Nope.

Draft picks are useless for trading with interstate clubs as they are in their own exclusive draft zones.

However, interstate clubs can give up their high picks for Victorian players as a 7th round pick is the same for their draft plan as a first round pick, given they have no competition in their zone.

Harris will be offered employment at the club or a $10,000 share (maximum per player) of the $40,000 ambassador fund. Or just be lured by our superior facilities. She wants to go to Vic, it'll happen, just depends which of the 4 clubs she ends up at. She wants a boxing career, we have the best training facility of the four Vic AFLW clubs.

Excellent! Thanks for the news and setting me straight.

I would like to see our club play a particularly strong lead in advancing the cause of women in football and women in Australian society. A successful women's team helps build a stronger club and a strong presence enables us to speak out much more and lead by example. The crap that the Murphy family are dealing with at present makes the need for a stronger voice from the club and change in our society even more pressing and urgent.

Means we can use Davey in the midfield more.

Build from the back.

Shes a quality left foot kick.

Her and Davey will get it 20 times a piece across the backline and set up.

In a comp where skills are low, a couple of elite ball users are an enormous advantage.

As a successful Under 18's girls coach myself (undefeated   - isn't that right Ms Agro)

I always advocated our most skilful and best kicks off the half back line, clearing the ball and setting up our attacks.

As I said it was very successful for me (undefeated- Premiers & Champions isn't that right Ms Agro  ).

This seems a good trade, and if we get Harris as well, we'll have a very strong team for next season.

Good skills out of defence is exactly the type of improvement the team needs from what I saw. Too much blazing away last season.

Very astute recruitment.

The fronted the media today just before our first pre-season training session tonight.

She'll be wearing #21.

Her skills stand out. Her passing is superior to anyone else on the ground.
A great pick up.

Nic's brush with royalty
Quote:
WHILE thousands of Melbournians lined the streets to get a glimpse of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on Thursday morning, Carlton AFLW midfielder Nicola Stevens was lucky enough to attend an official function.

Through her ambassadorial role with Dementia Australia, the 25-year-old was invited by the Governor of Victoria Linda Dessau to a reception for Victorian Youth Leaders at Government House.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were present at the event and mingled with the guests – including a very excited Stevens.

“It was an absolute honour to be invited to the reception for Victorian Youth Leaders by the Governor of Victoria. I was so shocked when I received the invitation,” Stevens said.

“It was very exciting – I even got to shake Prince Harry’s hand. He was really lovely and very genuine.

“It’s definitely an experience I’ll never forget.”

Stevens has been extremely busy during the off-season, having recently completed a national tour for 'Dementia Australia – Small actions. Big difference'. She travelled to Hobart, Canberra and the Northern Territory, giving talks to help people gain a greater understanding of dementia.

Raising awareness for the disease is a cause close to Stevens’ heart, after her mum Ann was diagnosed with early onset dementia in 2010.

Earlier this year, the AFLW All Australian also took part in a number of Dementia Australia’s ‘Melbourne Memory Walk & Jogs’ across Victoria.

More money or unhappy with the club?
