I would give Weitering the job on Buddy. Rowe takes Tippett/Sinclair. Marchbank gets Reid.

As much as McKay looks promising, I would like to see him build his fitness and all round game in the VFL a bit longer. He has missed a lot of footy. If he is selected now, I doubt he could contribute much more than 60% TOG.

Losing Gibbs & Murphy means I think White stays in (for experience) ahead of Macreadie. And I've given Graham & Smedts the nod ahead of Cunningham & Kerridge - the latter pair need to work on their disposal, IMO.

If Kreuzer is not right to come back, I would persist with Phillips.

B: Docherty Rowe Marchbank
HB: Plowman Weitering Williamson
C: Simmo Cripps Smedts
HF: Wright Casboult SPS
F: Pickett Jaksch SOJ

R: Kreuzer C Curnow E Curnow
Inter: Fisher, Graham, Polson, White

In- Graham, Jaksch, Kreuzer, Smedts
Out- Gibbs (inj), Murphy (inj), Macreadie, Phillips

Is it just me or does Ed C appear to be struggling a bit this year? Thought he was really good last year.

Bolts loves playing the two slow talls. I expect Krooze and Phillips both to play.

Also thinks Cuningham is a big chance.

Kerridge and Palmer should play ahead of white and macreadie to protect curnow, sps and Fischer as well as sharing the workload with Gibbs, Murphy and Cripps. We need to accept their disposal inefficiency the other benefits. They will need to be part of the furniture for 2 years

Sydney play hard and fast.
We play hard and slow.
Our fast players run the lines and get ignored.
We rarely use the corridor so we don't defend it well.
Looking forward to seeing Alir Alir play again.
We have to be a chance based on Sydney's table position but it seems a long time since we have beaten them.

Early days but trying to read the tea leaves: Gibbs will play, Murphy won't.
Kruezer to come back for Phillips.
Smedts in for Murphy.
Perhaps another change e.g. Macreadie rest and bring in Cunningham (or Daisy but hopefully not Daisy).

Weitering goes back and onto Reid.
Marchbank starts on Buddy.
Rowe on Tippet.

Out: Phillips, Murphy, Macreadie
In: Kruezer, Smedts, Cunningham

Agree. I think he is the best tagger in the AFL but not nearly as good as a free running player.

For list-management purposes, I'd kinda like to see us play this team for the next month, staring this week:

B: Buckley - Rowe - Marchbank
HB: Docherty - Plowman - Simpson
C: Boekhorst - Cripps - Murphy
HF: Gibbs - Casboult - Smedts
F: Silvagni - Jacksch - Jones
R: Kreuzer - Graham - E. Curnow

INT: Kerridge - Phillips - Weitering - Wright

It's far from our best side, but it is the side made up of what you might consider our 'core' i.e players aged between 22 and 27. It's is supplemented with three players under age 22 (Silvagni, Marchbank, Weitering), but no first-year players. They can spend a month gelling as a unit in the seconds. It also includes all of our players over 27, except Palmer (injured), A. Silvagni (R), White, Armfield and Thomas. It's also far too top-heavy.

But I kinda want to see if this side can play together and be competitive, and as I don't expect us to win any time soon, it serves the purpose of seeing if these players are worth persevering with. Because decent form in the seconds doesn't equal an AFL career. And we've seen that most of our youngsters look, at the very least, positive.

NOTE: These are the players in the 22 - 27 year-old bracket who are unavailable: Lamb, Galluci (R), Gorringe, Sheehan (R), Byrne, Sumner, Korcheck (R).

Comments re Cunningham and Graham sound like they are a chance.

Comments re KJ and Harry sound like they need to consolidate/improve over a further couple of weeks before getting a call up. Nothing in their summaries indicate a call up this week.

The most intriguing one for me was Jones. Could he be a new breed of ruckman?
Great leap so can compete one on one with any ruckman.
Great mark and around the ground won't have a key backman to compete against.
Decent field kick.

"Our best player on the day, especially given we had a job to do on the VFL’s best ruckman in Nick Meese which he more than accomplished. He competed his socks off and his follow-up was like an on-baller."

So, Mick might turn out to be a genius after all? (Just as Buckley's flame is fading.... )

I think Alex Silvagni will come in for Macreadie and Cuningham will come in for Pickett. Kreuzer to come in for Phillips.

I cannot believe I am saying this but based on what I saw of the NB game if Krooooze cannot get up I would have Jones instead of Philips in a heartbeat.
