I know he isn't playing anywhere near the number on his contract but perhaps playing well enough to keep his spot.

Multiple targets missed, calls for the ball in areas that don't advantage the team, too often doesn't win his own ball, doesn't tackle.
He can only play wing/half forward and not very effectively at that.
Simmo has been pushed to the wing with Williamsons inclusion and I think Fisher will make a good winger too until he puts on some size. That leaves Daisy as a HFF. Look at the damage their half backs did on Saturday. I'd rather see a Polson have a run there. At least he can give you short spurts in the midfield which adds flexibility.
When you have youngsters getting consistent quality output in the VFL, they deserve opportunities. Polson has had 28 possessions and strong form in multiple weeks now.

Yep. You make very reasonable points.

Like you Swan, I've been ok with Daisy in the side, but last weekend was the last straw.

Ever since he had his ankle/foot injury, his kicking has been poor, and even the simplest short passes are only a fifty/fifty chance of getting near a target at best.

As a clubman, I get the impression he's highly regarded, but as BV points out, he doesn't add value and his turnovers hurt us badly both in position and our morale.

48. Kristian Jaksch
Stats: 24 disposals (22 kicks), 13 marks (4 inside 50), 3 goals
From the coach: We used him at both ends to continue to give him flexibility. As a forward, worked in conjunction with McKay and Kerr, both up the ground and back towards goal. As a defender, he provided stability and was strong in the contest.

Why not.

Teddy Jnr gave it to the entire EFC*** cheer squad some years ago for the whole match. It was the famous MCG win in the wet when Fev scrubbed a kick to Houlihan who kicked a goal and celebrated with the chainsaw.

I thought we were going to die. Teddy Jnr was so loud and loathsome a couple of EFC*** members actually moved from nearby. I couldn't shut him up. Thank goodness we won.

You're a cracking parent. Keep up the good work.

Yeah but it would be as believable as the nightly news in Pyongyang

Thomas does nothing that 5 or 10 others on our list couldn't do. Probably better than him. He has such low impact it's frightening. Would prefer another kid out there.

Thomas's ball use has been very poor, keeps missing targets by foot. How bad was the little dinky kick! No good. Get another exciting kid in Polson into the side.

Okay, that's it. I am officially asking BB why Daisy is still in the side.

And I want,

"Just the facts ma'am"

The point is nobody gives af about KJ and with good reason.

He's done nothing of note in 5 years . Apparently he's now injury free, put on some size and fit and that's terrific because now he's got no excuse not to kill it in the seconds and press for selection.

Looks like his pre-season etc have been encouraging so he might even get a look in this week, if he doesn't he can do the work in the magoos.

Port have played Freo Syd Crows and GWS and are 2 and 2 .
You would take that.
Our only hope this week is if they sit back and become complacent otherwise we will get smashed.
Only played at AO once before and it was a bloodbath 3 figure belting

Agree good assessment , I reckon we'll compete and challenge with some good efforts early a half or so and then it will be nasty. It will be a heavy loss.

Our games against Port tend to go one of two ways

We win a close one
They smash us

Not sure it will be such a smashing.
Perhaps we could even win.
They are playing reasonably well but I still think they are overrated.
Port have always been great at pumping up their own tyres. A couple of years ago, Hinkley spent the pre-season convincing his players and everyone else that they were the fittest team. It was really a confidence thing and put doubt into opposition teams in the final quarter (when ALL players were feeling stuffed...).
This season, they have beaten Freo and Syd, both not exactly having brilliant seasons (Freo has improved but they played Port with their worst/oldest on field team for the year...). They have lost to the two good teams they have played.
We might be a rung or two below them at the moment but i my view, within striking distance on any given day.
And we have a pretty good recent record against them. I admit, I am being optimistic but on the other hand, I don't think we should be getting 'smashed' by any team this season. That should be one of the benchmarks of progress.

Known.

Barring a massive miracle, nor will Daisy or Jones.

Easy to understand Jones and Daisy not being renewed. KJ less so when he seems to be performing quite well and have so much upside...

I wonder what he did?

Dunno but he was kicking them from a looong way out at the weekend.

I think port will win but doubt it'll be a walkover.

We're going to get some absolute beltings later in the season though.

Polson Kerridge and Phillips would be the likely replacements perhaps... ?

He might end up at Richmond next year as well.
