We'll most likely lose control of the ground if the AFL get involved.

Careful what you wish for.

Would that put us in a better financial
Position? I'd assume we would keep our facility debt, but handover the rest.

I'll be betting AFL matches will eventually be back at PP, but maybe not for at least another 5-10 years. I actually think we will end up having more grounds used again for premiership points.

Reason being with every game on tv now, you need to create some kind of point of difference to actually go to the game.

Etihad is as sterile and boring as a stadium gets

Abolsutely, rebuild the roof to allow daylight in. This would make a huge difference to the joint.

It's not a good look for the game when you have 20k at the MCG.

The AFL should just swallow their pride for ONCE and bring back suburban football for these matches. It's a no brainer.

The club should focus on pushing for compensation picks at the end of the year because we need them

Bump…

Western Bulldogs hope to play AFL matches at Whitten Oval under $150m redevelopment plan
https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/ ... b2b7d9d7ea

Quote:
“Our masterplan reflects the club’s long-term vision of the Whitten Oval precinct as a hub for the west that attracts and connects our community to the football club and gives our club the best chance of success on and off the field,” Bains said.

“Our immediate focus is to improve the experience of watching football at the venue to ensure the Whitten Oval remains one of the key AFL priority venues for AFLW matches.

“It will also involve a slightly reoriented playing surface and broadcast lighting quality, something the AFL has committed to investing in, given it sees the ground as a model venue for AFLW matches, especially at night.”

Unfortunately for us even our smallest crowds are too big for Princes Park.

Gee i hope we wake up soon.
it's a battle keeping my 9 and 11 year olds in navy blue... Many school yard influences point them elsewhere.

Just the other week I went for a walk in our hood after we beat the doggies and saw no less than 10 young kids around 10-15 years old on the streets in Carlton jerseys kicking the pill. Also saw a kid about 8-10 years old on the train the other day in the jersey.

There's a pulse!

Well...

pretty sure i mentioned it back about 12
years ago...with my nieces and nephew...
it was all about bird teams...!

i promised my nephew who was about 10...
that by the time he was in High School...the
Blues will be killing it...and he'll be so proud...!

as it turns out...i was wrong...!

but...he still uses the words..."how do you think
we'll go this week Unk"...that's pretty good
after what's been happening...!

it DID cost me a fortune in merch back
in the day though...!

kindest regards tommi

He’s still using the “we’ll” word, so it’s been a wise investment.

It was more the focus on AFLW that piqued my interest from that article.

Isn't Princes Park in line to become the AFLW HQ?

That has been clearly stated on several occasions.

Would be a huge backflip.
