Drop a ruckman, bring in a runner. Surely obvious.

Gawn will have a field day against Kreuzer. Gawn, the mobile ruck who enjoys his footy, runs all day and marks everything in sight, taunts the umpires and kicks goals.
But Kreuzer will never be dropped. Ever. He is the untouchable. He is the heart and soul of the club. The fact he is completely cooked as an AFL player has no bearing on anything.

There will be no wholesale changes.
Why?
Without looking at the stats I am prepared to say we won the following:
Inside 50s
Shots on goal
Contested possessions
Clearances
Frees for

We only lost the game by two or three points. Things aren't as bad as they seem. Trot out another cliche.

We will be run off our feet next week by a young, fast, keen, highly motivated and subsidized team that recently showed hawthorn how to play fast, hard football.
They will thrash us in the mindset we currently have of playing stop, start football with no run or chase.
I am concerned for the future watching this game plan.

So you'd want Cripps and Weitering out too

I don't want to see any changes from today's list, barring injuries, to front Melbourne next week.

We've got to keep persisting until the season is over and heads are placed on the chopping block.

Until then, let them eat cake!

I can't see any obvious changes to make! How sad is that after being beaten by Brisbane????

Murphy comes in if fit.
Maybe Sumner or Lamb will be given a run as well.

You have got to be kidding. Bokehurst must be dropped. I would be tempted to rest Cripps

Sumner Jacksch lamb

Agree Jim, rather have the one ruckman and bring in Sumner.

I would also replace White with Jaksch for the last two games.

Anyhow,on a brighter note this is a winnable game. But for effs sake Bolts, dont leave that gaping hole in the guts.We can press to the cows come home, but the opposition dont really give an eff. They are quite happy to sag back. They just sit back and pick us off.Heres a suggestion Bolts, try a bit of old fashioned man on man.The Demons are STILL suspect against hard close footy. They have been getting away with murder with sides allowing the far too much space.Close 'em up and its ours.

And which midfield runners would you like us to bring in to match up with their stronger, faster midfield runners?

Graham or Whiley?

We started to build a great nucleas last year at the draft:
Cripps, Doc, Byrne, Weiters, SOS, Curnow, Plowman, maybe Mckay and Cunningham give us about 1/3rd of a quality team

Maybe one of Boekhorst, Sumner or Buckley MAY join them if they develop.

But really that's our core we will be adding to over the next 3 years. All the rest are shuffling complimentary pieces.

Midfield would be our weakest point development-wise. Which is pretty much where the game is won and lost...the game plan is not the issue.

Nice post, good question.

We played with dash for ten weeks using the players you mentioned. That was the game plan and after four losses, we got six wins using it. Then we lost and now we have reverted to a chip and switch style which has led week in and out to goals from turnovers.

Murphy and Byrne have not been available but Boekhurst has been and now we have Cunningham. If Touhy, Docherty, Simpson, Gibbs, Buckley, Boekhurst, Cunningham, Armfield, Cripps and Thomas run and carry, that's a good start. We saw it last night for about one and a third quarters. Buckley, Boekhurst and Touhy started to run. Cripps broke a few lines. Even Thomas got a few possessions on the burst. What happened? We slaughtered them but it was already too late. The game plan they started with didn't involve any run. Same as last week against St Kilda when our first running bounce was just before half time.

Our midfield has to be developed, you are 100% correct. That should be the priority. We need to find a n absolute gun to help Cripps, Gibbs and Murphy and we need to find four or five more to replace those who are making up the numbers. Our current, static game plan has to change, though. We have a reasonable midfield when they run but at the moment, they aren't running. Ask yourself why not.

More like Murphy (if fit). Sumner, Lamb, Tutt and/or Viojo-Rainbow. More than anything we look physically tired, but all of those had this week off, Sumner the week before also and Murphy so long you'd bring him back through the 2s if he were out much longer. but at least all would be freshened up. Likewise Jaksch and Everitt amongst taller players. Not saying all these changes, but I'd be advocating as many fresh legs as have justified their selection at all, or in the case of DVR let's have a look at him in better company before making a call on his career. He may be that type of player will do better with better quality around him, certainly he has pace and kicking skill which we badly need.

DVR doesn't look particularly quick to me. He's got a poor engine as well. It's part of his problem.

I keep mentioning Gowers. Half back and bye Whitey. For a couple of games at least.

I'll be disappointed if Boek gets a game after that effort.

Unlikely, but would love to end their run at the 8.

Other than Cripps, the 2010-2014 drafts are embarrassing. 1 bona fide player from the draft in 5 years...
