Netball has one of the highest participation of any sport in Australia but it struggles to get sponsors FTA coverage and spectators.
It has its moments but generally finds it hard.
I can't see how women's AFL league will take off as you would think that if Netball has found it difficult with a million plus playing the game The women's AFL league would be lucky to have 10000 playing across the country.
Good luck for them trying but it would have made more sense to align with a Netball league to me

Don't know what will happen but think the time has come to get the ball rolling. As a father of daughters I am for the promotion of women in sport in general terms. Got to be a least more exciting than watching professional golf...

My girls have played netball for 10 years and have never watched a game of netball on TV, never been to a game other than those they play in.

They watch footy religiously, can tell you the NBs score and who's looking likely for selection.
They are really excited by women's footy and loved that Bulldogs v Melb game last year. They see the Carlton women's team as part of the Carlton organisation.

Aligning with a netball league defeats the purpose entirely.

Getting coverage is easy. It's backed by the AFL. The biggest sporting brand in the country.

All the AFL has to do is demand coverage from their broadcast partner/s, or the TV deal is off. The channels don't hold the whip hand. They'll bend to the AFL's desires.

Channel 7 are extremely keen to get this on telly.

They need content and they don't want to miss the boat like they did with the big bash.

Why should it matter what the women look like ?
There ll be some creeps who ll only watch this League to perve on the women, similar to Women's tennis, but if its to be a success, we have to look at these as just normal games of footy.

Syd must be a big fan of women's beach volleyball

Nothing wrong with that.
Highly skilled athletes.
I played normal volleyball and it's hard enough to keep the ball in the air with six a side.

Don't disagree one bit, but you know as well as I that's not the reason he likes it.

I quite like it. They need to drop the AFL logo part of it though

Lol - why isn't it just AFL? We don't have a stylise M for the men?

The stylised W looks crap and could mean anything, better to have a single logo.

Is it meant to just be a W? What are the extra little lines?
AFL, you suck at this

No wonder the use of the apostrophe is so poor.
