Phillips you'd be happy with a late pick or rookie. Kerridge is a 2nd or 3rd rounder and so is Lamb.
I trust those in charge (now). All 4 can kick and Phillips is raw.
Menzel has on and off field issues.
Yarran gave up
Henderson stopped caring.
Bell, we did the right thing.
The proof of the last 2 weeks will be in the draft.
Weitering is a no brainer.
We must get the next 3 right.
SOSOS will bust his guts. He'll be special its in the genes.

If every player at the club understands their responsibility and we build a culture from the ground up, we'll look back at this period and say it was when we stopped the ROT.

That's a really good post.

Plus 2. Summed it up perfectly. Consistency of intensity in the AFL is everything and we just weren't getting anywhere near enough of it from Henderson, Yaz or Menzel. Bell was fine but Kerridge is better.

Plowman will be terrific. He will give 110% every game. Sumner has plenty of talent. Just needs a good run with injury. Terrific attitude. Lamb is at his 3rd club so needs to produce. He can play. Phillips will be a real wild card. Give him a few years and look out

Regards Cazzesman

I am pumped ---- plus 4

It's just a shame the damage was already done before the club did something .....we've lost a few players now.

My local Tab was frequented by;

Adrian Gleeson
Chris Yarran
Robert Wiley

Adrian would deposit large amounts into a TAB account and leave.
Chris would not look at any form and just tap the betting screen like it was a poker machine, (shit punter).
Robert was a bit more astute.

I'm looking forward to a huge improvement in the Northern Blues performance this year too.

We lost 4 talented senior players and we are replacing them with 4 draft picks in the top 20.

That means we're in for some short term pain, but it is the right approach. 2016 could be very ugly, but this is what we should have been doing 8 years ago. Obviously it is vital that we now select and develop really well.

While hanging onto 4 top 20 picks, we also attempted to address our depth and age profile issues by getting the GWS boys and Kerridge. If one or more of them become 150 game players, that will be a massive bonus. I would have been happier if we could have converted #19 into Tomlinson, and I wish Rice was coming to us, but overall I'm content with what we did during the trade period.

Yes but 3 of those players gave us nothing this year, but with retirements of Judd and Carrots that hurts us further. Odds on to finish last next year unless Essendon* get wiped out by WADA, but at least we are doing the process right.

Bell is the player that I have the most respect for, but I'm not sad to lose him as he gave his all every game, and got the most of his talent. I hope he gets rewarded with a big salary at Brisbane.

Menzel ... I think some of the criticism of him is unfounded, but there are enough doubts hanging over him (gambling, knees, shoulders, always coming off the field to the trainers, going missing for long periods) that he worries me, and I think it's probably good risk management to move him on if the deal was there. As someone said in the talking players thread - he aint really improving, despite plenty of opportunity. He'll do better at Adelaide.

Hendo - meh. Over it by now. Very happy with the compensation we managed to wrangle. We didn't need to rely on the Makey-uppy department at Docklands.

Yarran - this is the one that will hurt. We all like to predict that his baggage will ruin him, but I think the more likely outcome is that he will kick bags of goals at Richmond and it will hurt every time I see him celebrate a goal with that stupid sash. Not as much as Eddie, but still a lot. I hope one day he apologises to the club and fans. But the comments above are true - he was a liability to us this year, and we had no choice other than kick him out.

Plowman is the player that I am most excited about.
Kerridge we know will be a big contributor.
The others, question marks.
But Plowman could be the ace in the pack..... I hope he takes his chance and grabs it.

in all honestly everyone around the afl says we did alright, b/b+ for our trade period, and that's based off 4 picks inside the top 20 in a really top heavy draft.

outside of the possibility plowman might turn into a regular seniors player, the players we obtained aren't too flash and have the ants written all over them. if you loved Jones, you will simply adore Jed Lamb.

people getting excited about kerridgei is a bit of the lulz too ... he's like the diet strength version of Andrew Carrazzo.

and, henceforth he shall only be known as Carrazzo-lite. or CL if your hamstrung for time or typing from your phones.

that is all. have a great day everyone.

Out of the 5, I think Plowman and Sumner are the ones will end up having long careers. I can see Kerridge being handy for a year or 2.

The Vet (tm) can see him being handy for 3.

End of next year we will add to this year's pick 1, 8, 11 and 19:

1st round pick 1-4 MIDFIELDER
1st round pick 11-15 from our 2 x 3rd rounders) MIDFIELDER
2nd round pick 19-24
2nd round pick 23-25 for Casboult

Maybe upgrade the 2 x 2nd rounders for Tomlison or the like

Furthermore with Thomas completing his illustrious 4 year FA deal we have our chance to add another FA:

Josh Kennedy from West Coast Eagles on $1.2M per season at FF for 3 years

All of the sudden 2017 looks good doesn't it?

Majority of next year's cull will come from these guys.

The least promising/performing six or seven of this group will surely go this time next year. But unless we have a few other contracted high draft players who want out, we'll have nowhere near the currency for upgrading picks that we have had this year.

My guess Buckley the first of this group to get a contract extension.

You've left out Sheehan, Byrne, Plowman, Lamb and Sumner.

FWIW, Pelchen, Wallet and Buckenera have all loved what we have done.

Whilst the first two cop some crap they do know lists better than 95% of the people that are commenting and just rehashing the same NEAFL 'jokes'..

The Buckenera article is on Superfooty, but I'm I'm having trouble getting past the paywall even with all the usual tricks....

Keep watching that TAB, a Carlisle style tipp-off now the trade is done might be in order!
