No surprise re the Bell trade. I've heard he's brought along the Hawthorn mantra - players must be good kicks.
It's going to be a long haul but the early signs are good. Let's hope he gets all the resources and none of the board interference.

With a substantial amount of player and pick movement this year, everyone is rightly pointing out the influence of Silvagni.

I'm genuinely curious as to how involved Bolton is with this, considering these are the players he will be coaching. Anyone shed some light on how the working relationship between SOS and Bolton works?

Will be plenty of players with a clean slate at the club come season 2016. Genuinely excited.

I'm just reading some of the draft profiles of the players we've picked up from GWS and "excellent kick" seems pretty common which sounds like a Bolton influence.

SOS has been working on a fair chunk of this since April, but Bolton has basically been hanging around with SOS since he was appointed.

On specific names and trades? No doubt, otherwise he won't have much in the way of a set of responsibilities once a recruitment manager is installed.

Checks and balances.

I would have thought the coach would have had a whisper in SOS's ear if there were a player in particular he wanted.

What she's saying is SOS has final call. He ensures long term strategy while balancing wants and needs season to season.

Bolton coaches, the recruiters do the talent ID and draft selections, SOS works out what kind of players benefit us short and long term and uses FA, trade and the drafts to maximise our position each off-season to satisfy all parties.

Make sense?

Maybe he'll punch a drunk in the neck, and channel 7 will get him on with a glint in his eye and remind us all how much of a great bloke he is.

Oh, wait. Wrong team now.
