He is an improved player, who does some very good things that his critics - such as myself - should acknowledge more often.

He also makes some horrible errors by hand and foot, ignores better options, and can fumble at crucial times which needs to be acknowledged by his fans.....

The Smith backwards handpass, 2 quick holding the ball decisions and the deliberate have all been replicated by the Pies yet the umpire has a different (collingwood) read on all situations.

Hopefully in the distant future when we are good those banked up bad decisions come back to us as favourable decisions.

Couple it with the ball has to be out but the foot can be in and you have another situation whereby the boundary umps have to interpret when someone firty metres away runs out and holds the ball 'in'.

The easiest thing to do would be get rid of it all together and have a free kick to the opposition.
