Maybe Kouta could do the Tzamiko after he kicked a goal.

Or maybe Anglo players could do a Morris dance after a goal.

It shouldn't be a problem, the network could just hold off giving the central umpire the signal to bounce the ball until all players have finished their little jigs.

the redhead was an idiot.

Well that would be hard Agro, their tribes were dispersed, their children taken, their wives stolen, their men killed or made to work for next to nothing, then we gave them drink and...well not much else really... their way of life broken...but hey if you want to take offense because he was trying to be proud of his Indigenous heritage, go ahead, I'm sure you'll fit right in with the other twats who love to get indignant about a dispersed and degraded peoples trying hard to find a way to show pride, show hope, show that they have not been defeated by rifles and germs and sheep. Really, what is the big deal, he did a dance...move on.

I don't think it's wrong to suggest there should be consistency though.

Giving the bird to foul mouth cretins behind the goals should be treated in the same vain.

Yet one gets a couple of grand fine and the other gets lauded.....

Oh, so giving the bird is an exclamation of heritage?

Mind you I have no problem with a player giving the bird...so I'd argue, bring back the bird...but please do not equate it to what Goodes did.

From what I can gather the problem people have with it is that it was directed at the opposition supporters (us) - if it had been directed at Sydney supporters it would have been okay apparently. For some reason it's demonstrative behaviour and threatening etc because of the target. Okay. Pretty happy no one got killed in the crowd by the imaginary spear from 40,000 years ago that Goodes chucked at them.

I really don't mind one way or the other, but the whole incident has just made Carlton look bad - members of the cheer squad apparently trying to contact every media outlet they can to 'clear their name' and point fingers at aggressive Sydney supporters and ignorant ground and crowd security. At the end of the day it was just a dance, it wasn't offensive at all and their reaction has made the club look like a bunch of racists (as contradictory as that is given our recent indigenous players) when we've given the media and the general football public more than enough ammo already to bash us with.

Was the display cocky? Proud? Showy? Yeah maybe, but if that's the case it wouldn't be the first FIGJAM ever to grace the football field.

Indigenous round, let it go. I wouldn't expect to see it become a regular occurence and if it does, who really cares? There's a lack of character in the game as it is.

I actually think Goodes is as racist as anyone in this country, but we're not allowed to think like that because it's not PC

Goodes action was aggressive.

Is it a stretch to say that the Carlton folk in the pocket were worried with what Goodes was going to do? Were they fearful?

He did reach the boundary line. Nup we were a weak club, an easy target. Lets see how it pans out for Goodes moving forward.

As I have mentioned in another post....the symbol of Nicky Winmar at Vic Park cut through and that image will forever remain, as for Goodes he can go on busting a move.

Who do I blame because I can't dance the same dances that my paleo European forebears did?

“I’m not going to go up to Chris Yarran and do it because he’d actually be part of the war cry.”

Way to bring indigenous and non-indigenous people together Adam.

Josh Kennedy does a soft shoe shuffle before he kicks the goal, does that count?

Fearful of what? The imaginary boomerang?

easy target, and whose fault is that?

Goodes could do what he did because Nicky did what he did, that's the importance of symbolism and gestures.

you can, just help the WA government ship the indigenous people off their land and call it a "lifestyle choice" dance.

After ever carlton goal this year I'm going to do a Zorba in the aisle and whoa to anyone who racially oppresses or villifies me.

Not that I will have the opportunity to many times this year at our current rate of goal kicking

I wish Carlton would win a game and do the Zorba while singing the song directly in front of the opposition's cheer squad!

Agree. This is an issue still to arise. At the moment it's all one way. How about about everyone treating each other equally and without any bias regardless of race, religion, colour etc. It's having everyone's ideas, beliefs etc being shoved down our throats that gets people off side. Not racism itself.

There's been a such a gross overreaction to this.

I get that it could have been seen as intimidating on the night. I get that Goodes is a bit too self-righteous at times.

But I don't get why people are getting SOOOO uptight and offended over it all.
