anyone got anything about MM's suggestion that Eddie had signed with Adelaide 18 months before he left?

Perhaps while the AFL investigate this Adelaide might suggest they have a look at Geelongs chat with Dangerfield over a number of years. Whilst they are talking with Cats they might also bring up Caddy.

Lets face it ALL Clubs play the game!

The most we ever paid Eddie was 333k per year. When we tried to lowball him again, he chose to accept a much better offer from Adelaide.

Mick knows it was a mistake and he's trying to clear himself of responsibility.
More bullshit AFAIC. Time to move on. Nothing will come of it and nor it should.

There's nothing wrong about talking to players. There is a problem "signing" them up prior to the expiry of an existing contract - which is what Mick was alluding to (facts unknown).

Then we absolutely know it's rubbish.... What did he sign, a Mabo treaty? It certainly couldn't have been an AFL contract..... Let alone the fact he was a restricted free agent that we could have matched the offer.

I don't think it's going too far out on a limb to say Eddie disliked him and left because of one person - Malthouse

And now he's trying to absolve any responsibility or accountability whatsoever like the slithering snake he quite clearly is.

350k ... 3 years
500k ... 4 years

It was never a contest unless we came close to matching it

Mick proved today that he was a total flog by making this statement. Quite embarrassing he ever coached the navy blues

'Stiched up' might mean a verbal agreement. No evidence there.
But he is committed and so are they.

I'm sure it happens every day in the life of a free agent. We'd be silly to think clubs aren't talking to Hendo's man.
And we should be looking at every free agent in the league by now. Not to do so is failureof due diligence.

Problem is Hawthorn have huge salary cap space and can offer everybody a premiership tilt in the next two years even if they have to tale a few dollars less. Hendo to replace Lake is a possibility.

He was a restricted free agent. There can't be a commitment. If we match Adelaides offer, he's a Carlton player.
Simple.

We chose not to.

It's such a non issue that just clearly highlights what a cantankerous little child Malthouse is
