At the very least, why aren't we playing our best athletes to at least apply pressure? How many games are we going to see moderate success at stoppages and a massacre as soon as the ball is clear?

I simply had to turn off yesterday. Not because we were getting blown out, god knows that's happened before - many times. But because we were actually painful to watch. Something needs to change very soon or we'll be losing a hell of a lot more than a bunch of games this year.

Just reading these posts makes me wonder where the club will be in a few years.

Once upon a time, the name, 'Carlton' attracted sponsors and players who wanted to play for us. If we keep losing games, have a team of players that look disinterested, a coach who spends half his presser talking up the opposition, an MC which seems incapable of analyzing the opposition and picking a team that can counter their strengths and exploit their weaknesses and a board that seems divorced from the reality of what is happening within and without the club, wewill end up in an ever worsening downward spiral.
The club needs money to stay afloat. Gate takings and membership make up a large portion of that money. Sponsorship is another large part, pokies another and the AFL equalization another.
If we, the rusted on supporters and members are leaving, that alone should be ringing alarm bells in the boardroom. That Eddie and Jarrod left should be cause for alarm. Nobody leaves Carlton. Well, they do now. And once, everybody wanted to come to Carlton. Juddy came but it may have been for the money. Collingwood would have been a better place for him footy-wise.
Now everybody wants to go to Hawthorn or Sydney and Melbourne gets the discards. Well we are going to be thankful for the discards if we don't change.

I can see us folded within a few short years. It's in the AFL's interest to have fewer clubs in the Melbourne. They are looking at Tassie and Ballarat as options. To create another cub is out of the question. It will have to be done by force. Someone will be forced to move or forced to merge. If we become cellar dwellers with no crowd pulling capacity we become just another liability like North, the Dogs and Melbourne.

Our history is a glorious one but it is fading as the years pass. I was around in the pre-Barassi years and things were bad then but this is worse.

Someone like Sellers or Fraser Brown has to spill the board and et rid of the fat cats. This is Hawthorn all over again with Don Scott flying the flag. Most of us laughed at him at the time but out of the mire rose the juggernaut that has become Hawthorn..

We need to realize that success is built on good recruiting and sensible trading and passion. We have more top ten picks that we've ever had but we picked vanilla players. SOS may or may not be the answer. I thin anybody could have put together the GWS with the picks they had but our list is crap. Our rookies are batter than our top ten picks! How does that happen?

We need a young coach with vision and passion. Who is it? I have no idea but I wouldn't even be disappointed if we went with Ratten again. He's had another three years of apprenticeship under the sniper, Clarkson and that can't have done him any harm. Whoever it is has to be brought in now so he has a chance to assess the list against HIS game plan and tell SOS what we want at the draft. If we have to trade Murphy, Gibbs, Henderson, Kreuzer and Yarran to get three or four top ten picks, so be it.

MM wasn't even upset at his presser and passed the buck to the robotic players. Under Ratts they ran and carried and Walker kicked 60 odd and we won and we lost but we tried. Play the kids. If we lose by 100 point every week but play the kids with potential, it doesn't matter. two years ago, GWS were getting beaten by 100 points every week but they have turned it around with sensible trading of their players and patience.

And then I woke up and everything was still the same.

The players seem poorly prepared this year. Fitness levels are a real concern and reoccurring niggling injuries are a problem too.
We know that most teams need 8 to 10 weeks to get their preferred on the park but something is not quite right.
Team spirt and leadership are shattered too.
I've never seen this great club in such a despondent state, it's so frustrating and sad to see.
We've been incompetent in running the club and must be responsibility , but the AFL too with combination of penalties on Black Friday and the three compromised
drafts have not exactly been helpful.
The AFL will have to assist us , if this continues at an exponential rate we are in danger of sinking faster still.

50% capacity shouldn't be break even 15 years after stadium completion. That's ludicrous.

Only a top four side could pull a crowd like that for a game versus an interstate team consistently. Clubs should be making money at every match considering the AFL has been consistently expanding.

I know there's challenges with restoring PP, but the biggest by far are in the court of public opinion.
