THE AFL has ruled out a flexible fixture next year that would allow Friday night blockbusters to be selected in season.

A move to hand out-of-form Carlton six Friday night timeslots this year is set to backfire for broadcasters following the Blues dismal 1-4 start to the season.

The Blues will be thrust back into the national spotlight against Geelong (Round 8), Sydney (R9), Richmond (R15) and Hawthorn (R17).

We have for almost 15 years now. Friday nights have not been good for us.

At least we are at the forefront of 'driving something' in the AFL............ Yay, some relevance

One of two articles poking fun at us today (the free ticket giveaway)
Anyway still think we're a "big club"?

If it shames the playing group and board into action, I'm glad we've been outed for the soulless lightweights we now are.

I hope Murph enjoyed the pic of him limply chasing Swan in the HUN and then the adjacent article quoting the disgraceful tackling stats of he, Gibbs, Judd, Simmo and co. Seems like we're not the only people who notice this.

Lol. If I have to sit through our crap on a Friday night, then so does everyone else.

Those articles try to make it sound like its our fault the afl gave us so many Friday night games. It's not a surprise that we are crap this year, it's was expected - the afl should've used some brains and scheduled appropriately.

Someone hasn't just killed Friday Night Football.

Someone has killed a Football Club, but no one wants to take responsibility for it.

Typical anti Carlton press statement. We are playing an interstate club on Mothers day. I would of thought it is a reasonable marketing ploy. Don't complain that football is unaffordable

Brayshaw & Lyon go whack :!:

James Brayshaw has accused the AFL of delivering dud Friday night fixtures to boost next broadcast deal

http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/james- ... 7438204038

Quote:
Melbourne great Garry Lyon labelled the decision to give Carlton a dream Friday night run “one of the monumental muck-ups of the season”.

“The way that they’ve played, like Melbourne and other clubs who have been so hopeless, they don’t deserve a Friday night game (next year),” Lyon said

These media individuals have an agenda and have found a opening. If we don't get the Friday night games over next few years we will be financially disadvantaged. As we have been previously. I hope the club is working hard with the AFL behind the scenes because everyone else is trying to get their teams more exposure at our expense.

Ch7 wanted Carlton because of viewer numbers - even with us being sh!t we still pull more viewers than Norf or Dees combined

Yet I agree with Brayshaw. It is time that more is done for Brahshaw's North Melbourne....an extra 2-3 million dollar dividend from the AFL's coffers to North each year is not enough. Neither is the AFL assistance in their Tasmanian adventure, plus assistance with the facilities at Arden Street...none of this is enough.

I suggest that the AFL gives North Melbourne every 2nd Friday night game next year, and also that North get more from the "equalisation fund". Carlton, despite making a 3 million dollar loss this year, needs to do more to assist North Melbourne. I suggest Carlton goes to the AFL and asks if they can contribute more money to the AFL equalisation fund and to North Melbourne in particular. Whilst they are there they could suggest that Hawthorn, the Eagles and Collingwood contribute nothing to equalisation. Just them being there is enough.
Perhaps $80 out of every Carlton membership should go to North Melbourne. That is a good start.

It makes sense that a team on the bottom of the ladder and 5 million in debt does more to assist other teams.
