Yeah but I don't think they'll make it past the prelim.

Plenty of industry, but he dulls their class too much. Good on him for trying to win an arm wrestle, but the best sporting minds try and sharpen the tip on the metaphorical spear instead of turning it into a club.

Rubbish

This rebuild requires someone to be given 5+ years to shape the list. All coaches run out of ideas and lose touch with the game. Remember Carlton has had experience with that (Pagan) but have gone ahead and made the same mistake.

Remember this:

viewtopic.php?p=1310019#p1310019

Quote:
See, that's the irony. Malthouse wont accept honesty or criticism of his own role. At Collingwood, he refused to be a part of any review of the senior coaching role.
It was Ok to review everyone else but himself.
Why do you think that was the case?

Watch him in the coaches box. He was going off his head a couple of seasons ago and an assistant coach told him to re-focus. He sacked him.
Since then, there is a rule in the coaches box that no-one is allowed to look at Mick when he's going off his head. Does that sound like the behaviour of a logical person?

The club can't afford to have Malthouse there for another 3-5 years. For player development, for membership, for any hope of success.

I don't know what your point is Effes. I don't know what your point is throwing up someone's post from 2012 when we had a younger better list that couldn't perform. And yes Mick does get effort and commitment from our players. They are not good enough

This guy somehow escapes any sort of criticism. I don't know about many of you, but when Icke left, things started to go progressively downhill from there.

This. I've been saying this for a long time.

I'm not sure anyone who has read this board for any length of time would consider McKay to have escaped scrutiny.

He's a member of the fabled list management committee, so enough said I would have thought.

They won't run out the season playing the way they did yesterday.

In Sept they will be playing finals, we will be pondering who to take with pick 3.

Maybe not, but I don't see a 240 odd page discussion about his future at CFC.

This board is an embarrassment to the club.

How quickly after the new coach is signed will the 'sack *insert new coach here* start?

I'm pretty sure he's got his own thread somewhere.

Another thing on the coaching panel. Is there anything to be read into starting 0-3 each year? Does it suggest they spend all off season correcting mistakes/catching up to what was happening the previous year, only to have slipped behind again and once more needing to catch up? Three years in a row would seem to signify something.

By the end of the first presser. Surprised you have to ask.

They usually start as something of a joke, but a couple of points:

1. This is an independent forum and has no official ties to the CFC

2. There will always be a variety of opinions in any form of discussion, and this is one where you're hearing the thoughts of thousands of people; use common sense.

No, no, no! We take the best player available, at that pick. Regardless of position. No more "recruiting for need".

..best talent available at say pick two, is far too subjective.. ..if it's a hbf that we might turn into a midfielder, are you so keen..?.. ..what if it an undersized mid that might be a fp at afl level..?.. ..if there's a medium player versus a tall player, and so on.. ....I think we can still get a very good 'core' type player, I'd rather take a slightly less talented player that you can build a team around, rather than a highly skilled cream on top type..

Our list is so full of holes that a talented kid will slot into any position.

If we were to have a new coach then I'd go for Brett Kirk (maybe).

Paul Roos. He is out of contract at the end of the year and we should have got him the first time around by letting ratten serve out his remaining year and then Roos would have been primed instead of having to do a few years in limbo at the dees.
