We watch garlett jump at shadows, pull out of contests, let his personal life effect his football and play up after hours and we blame the coach for drawing a line in the sand.

Good luck to Garlett and Waite

So true.

These guys are out to impress their new clubs.

Don't be fooled by the early form. Same skills, same characters, different jumper.

The Trade Gibbs thread got me thinking to who I would actually be willing to trade that might have some genuine value.
I wouldn't trade Gibbs, nor would I trade Yarran, Murphy or Henderson as has been suggested by others. Kreuzer has never been worth less so I wouldn't be trading him either.
I'd be taking a look at Walker, Curnow, Tuohy/Sheehan, White and Buckley (I know I'll cop flak for that). None of them are going to be bringing in a first round pick, but for mine they're all worth about their peak amount now and will only progressively be worth less. Now would be the time to make the trade and see if we could get a couple of second round picks in the next draft.
Lastly, I'd have a word to Simpson about whether he'd want to make a move. If he wants to stay the. I think he should be kept. He's worth too much to our culture to trade him away without his blessing, but if he agrees to go I think I'd offer him around to some top end teams too.

Buckley, Tuohy and Walker would not be at their peak values in my estimation, at least for the latter two not compared to previous form.

When you have a player that improves your side and is a required player, you generally don't spruik him, simply see what offers come in and look to drive up the price if it seems vaguely competitive.

So the conversation with Simmo would be...
"Mate, sorry we've denied you a decent crack at finals due to poor management decisions. Your loyalty and passion for the club has been a yardstick for many. Apologies for not giving you the captaincy you deserved. If you wish to leave for a better club that will give you a chance to hold the cup, you have our blessing."

Yep, can see that happening.

The conversation would be 'we are undertaking a significant rebuild and we don't foresee this club tasting premiership success while you're still in the league. You're highly valued here and we would like to keep you here to lead our developing players, but we understand premierships are the ultimate success and if you wish to chase this success elsewhere we'll assist you to make this happen'

Agreed. I'll clarify, by peak value I am taking into account now and into the future. Ie they will not increase in value. I'm not considering their previous worth. Whether some blokes should've been traded a few years ago is a separate issue.

The professional version of what I said.

No less doubtful. He's more likely to request it and we make it a big deal and get reamed in the trade because he's leaving regardless.

Did you really
I watched a bloke who was riddled with injury problems and another bloke who had personal problems.
But both could turn a game on it's head.

You sure you watched them or just read the bullshit posted about them on forums

Time to keep our draft picks or trade up and start to trade players for picks. I said that 3 years ago and all we have done is kept topping up the list with B C & D graders and state league recruits. Time to completely start again through the DRAFT not through free agency.

Yep, been saying it for years.

We need 4-5 picks inside 30 for the next 4-5 years. On top of that we need other picks or good trades for players like Docherty. i.e Young early picks that may want to come home.

No more of getting a Liam Jones or a Jason Tutt or even a Daisy Thomas. What a waste.

People say well Jones didn't cost much. I say BS. We gave away pick 46, after that were Gregson, Daniel, Nelson, Cavka, McGrath, McKenzie, McDonald, Langdon who have all shown some early talent.

Instead of Boekhurst we could of had LaVerde, Goddard, Miller, Blakely or Bulleen-Neal and bet we still could of picked up Boekhurst late in the draft.

To any other club what we are doing and have done makes absolutely no sense at all.

Couldn't agree more. Boekhurst could have been taken later if we wanted him and we could have picked a gun kid instead. As for Jones sick of hearing we got him for nothing he's only a 3rd tall. Well every other club plays there developing 18-22yr old KP as a 3rd tall and we get an unproven 24yr old 3rd tall who is ordinary and takes the spot of a talented KP that we should be developing. RUBBISH!!

If you keep looking in the rear view mirror you'll crash into the car in front of you.

Do you think we might crash?
