got to get the ball
if you dont have the ball they have the ball
and if they have the ball ... u dont have the ball and u dont have scoring opportunities

to me it all gets back to this very thin midfield

when we win the ball..... our game plan dictates that we give it straight back

36 players in a half - no body to kick to, no where to run , no forwards

bomb it to space or to a heavy contest

turnover

youre dragged back because you dont win the bal

its ultimately about the depth of talent you have....

look at our midfield

rookies and cooked footballers

We win it
We just cough it up
Malthouse bemoans there is no run but the way he has instructed them to play is not a running game.
A different way of going about it might actually make this midfield look better

yeah ... we win it.. but thyre not classy enough

there are no A grade mids in the team

there is no depth of mids

Syd are you seriously trying to say any other team is green with envy of our midfield squad of players??

there might be players within tht group all times would like.. but as a squad its horrible in the midfield

oh and the reason why there are no A grade mids in the midfield is because of the lack of depth... not because some players are not potentially A graders....

But there is a shortage of help not just in the coalface but also once youre spreading defensively and offensively

just look at our drafting history if you dont believe me.. and look at the names named each week.

No not at all
Just think they are made to look worse than what they are by the style of game we actually play.

They are bad but not that bad

They might be a D grade list but Malthouse and the rest of the coaches are getting nothing out of them and they are performing like F graders.
The players actually look confused

..lazy, they look fit enough when they can run ahead of the play.. ..they looked ok in the first quarters cos there was no pressure applied to them, the other team put on the heat and they ran out of steam?, they ran out of heart..

This comes back to the coaching again.
Players are leaving Carlton and having reasonable careers elsewhere which suggests its not all about recruiting and more about the development and game structure and coaching

Said it the day he was hired, Buttifant is viewed as a dinosaur in the sports performance circles.
But that's the least of our problems.
