Dont know that hes a gun as yet but I wanted us to look at Bruce when he was traded. Was Carlton interested at all or had he spent his life hoping to play for the aints?

Bruce didn't play well in a VFL GF. I'd hazard a guess... for Carlton, the easier they are to get, the more we want them.

Josh Kennedy the last tall forward Carlton drafted with a pick below 15. Can't use the cheque book. Difficult to trade for.

Yeah but then we've still got Henderson (pick and Jaksch (pick 12) on the list so we do have some talent, matter of how we use it.

Exactly...its never as bad as you think it is. Jaksch probably ends up in defence. Need a quality tall to complement Henderson.

they say cripps is a future captain. a real leader. already is vocal and gets stuck into senior players when they lapse.

One thing of interest will be the relative success of KJ and peter wright, given wright was touted as a #1 during the year but wd have been there at pick 7. 3 for one only works if 2 of the 3 are good. I think kj will be good, but if wright is a star then it may not look like such a great deal. Have to wait a few years, but we need to use high draft picks and develop players well, there are no quick fixes.

..I've been saying this for years now, we haven't used a top twenty pick on a key forward since Kennedy, and until crisps we hadn't used a top twenty pick on a prime mid since the same draft either.. ....and what genuine talent we do get, more often than not we stuff up their development by quickly playing them in any role other than their natural position.. ..we still do this even now, because we have holes all over the field and chase our tails every off season..

There definitely looks like disharmony in the team. I sat just behind the Carlton dug out on Friday night. There was over a dozen time where plays ran to the intercharge only to to be waved back on in a very disgruntled state (it was easy to lip read the "For ducks sake!" shouts). I am not sure if it was an interchange limitation issue or just total on field confusion.

The plays just didn't want to be on the paddock let alone try to win the game.

I've got to agree with you there. I'd like to see us really target some quality midfielders (not flankers who maybe might have the potential to play in the midfield) and key forwards.

It's got to be our focus
