Thats all that matters.
I don't care what they did elsewhere
Ratts had his turn and it was time to move on. Unfortunately we got Malthouse so it was a step backwards as he is well past it and was when collingwood saw the writing on the wall.
Fans were screaming for us to sign him. Weirdo footy fans who thought he was the beez kneez because of his past.
I am glad Ratts has got a couple of flags with the hawks playing 2nd banana. Also glad to see some of the tactics he was trying to bring in at carlton being used by other clubs. Shame he didnt get the players that could kick that he demanded from our recruiting dept.
Anyway these now are dark days. To the point where all hope is lost and people are starting to stop going to games and even switching over. We are terrible to watch too.
We could drift off and become nothing or be smart and create a super club to rival the Hawks and the Pies. We might have to change our name a little and jumper a little but it can be done and i think now is the time to explore a m......................
I'm not going to knock the idea of a merge, I'd hate it to happen of course, but it's at least an option out of left field that may well get us back up & running. Whether it would turn out like another ill fated short cut I don't know. I'd be confident that like GWS & GC the AFL would back it in a big way to make it a success, especially as the media in Vic would be all over it trying to make it fail.
The problem with a merge is that unlike in the 90's we are no longer the big brother. Had we merged with the Saints or North then it would have been weighted in our favour. We may well have to give up too much to make it work & our hand is no longer a strong one.
I'd honestly hate a merge, the dark navy blue jumper is sacrosanct in my eyes despite the club itself pissing around with the colour for the last 20yrs!
