We're 3/4 of a list away from the top sides.

Docherty was our best I thought.
Yarran and Judd tried hard.

Sorry, agree. I was referring to a post that listed Bell, Carrazzo etc. Docherty bog for us for me.

All pre-season at every opportunity all they harped on about was getting the game plane right. Well if that's the game plan we are stuffed.

Wake up and smell the coffee, that was Richmond, Richmond, not Hawthorn, or Sydney, but bloody Richmond!

Can you imagine what Hawthorn will do with this game plan? Here's a clue, bend over ...

Just me or do the players not look the slightest bit worried about losing? Not being harsh but anyone else see that?

Good point.

Should have mentioned him earlier. A thinking footballer.

Virtually... anyone who thinks that side looked good on paper going into that game is kidding themselves.

Cripps and Smith, just kids and way off the pace but will get better and need to be developed.
KJ had an OK night a few errors but again young with plenty of upside and a great get.
Docherty - starting as he finished last season, will be one of our best soon.
Bell seemed to play HF most pf the night and looks better when he is on the ball or coming from a wing. Got into it late but game was shot.
Jones.......Casboult..........if Cas wants his spot back it won't take much to get back in.
Menzel, had better days had worse......will be a gun.

My assessment of the kids......as for Murphy and Gibbs.......nice hair!!

I asked my 10yo if he wanted to watch the game he said "nah, we'll just kick the first 2 goals then lose". I find it hard to argue with him lol.

Lots of obituaries are written after round 1 for about 9 teams. We were poor tonight but let's not go all Richmond...

Outplayed and out-coached. Could be a long year.

Jones wasn't the worst, if you're average then you at least need the ball kicked to your advantage. Our disposal reminded me of 2005

Anyway need to clean out more.
And that is just at the top of the club...

It's frustrating. If we're overstocked with slow, plodding mids, I at least expect them to crash in and stick tackles. We don't do that though. Boekhorst and Tutt won't be physically hurting any opposition but they might at least create some run and excitement. Buckley is another (and he at least loves a scrap too). Unfortunately we're lacking well rounded players who bring multiple quality attributes to the team.

My view of todays football look at all the previous winner
They draft for a minimum of six years they do not give away
draft picks if anything they trade for picks they don't trade
them away. They draft the best available kid know matter what
Position they play . Then after the sixs year they will trade for
players that they need and trade out the players who are not
up to it .
Now the Carlton way is let's just trade for second rate players
giving away top draft pick give you a perfect example in warnock
Everett,McLean . Some trade will work but 80%wont .
Carlton to go forward we need a full rebuild bottom up big name
players should be traded get as many early draft picks as possible
New coaches to come in let them build there own team with some
hardness no soft players with plenty of leaders.

I agree but also think that Jones is a one trick pony, if the ball is not played in to his advantage he is out of the contest very quickly.

Casboult offers the flexibility of second ruck which I believe affected Rowe's game tonight and throws his weight around more than Jones has shown so far.

Happy for either to star but believe that if all Jones is going to offer is 1 - 2 goals per game then Cas could do the same with the added benefit of ruck duties and some forward pressure.

That said his form in the practice games did not warrant his selection and I am happy for him to realize he has to work harder to be out there.
