From hearing the call and looking at the stats only:
midfield good.
Judd Carrots Cripps.
Run off half back Simposon and Yazz great.
BB, KJ, Everitt and Tutt good contributions
White, Jones Jammo fine.
Curnow Warnock and Bell - you get what you get.
Clem better as the game went on
Didn't hear much about Menz, hendo, Tuohy,Casbolt or Rowe

I think (but may be wrong) we got more goals from midfield or players 'swung' into attack than from 'regular' forwards
Don't know if we had many (any?) goals from kicks to a lead?

Struggled at times when under pressure in the back 50
Very happy to win even a praccy match

Just back from the game. Given Arnhem wasn't watching, it's fair to say his analysis is pretty close.
Will try to take some minutes out of work tomorrow to add a bit more.

the big thing to come away with so far in regards to the nab cup is KJ
we just found a smart running tall to compliment henderson in the big man dept...and jones is going to help too
the other thing is.. there isnt a hell of alot coming through the midfield and that is where our focus just needs to be .

Agreed.

If you look at the age profile of the KPP we have brought in they are all relatively young and it is far easier to bring midfielders in once you have this right.. If you do it the other way by the time you have the KPP in the side those midfielders that came to the club beforehand are passed their best and the cycle starts again............ This is years trade\draft should be all mids except for SOS and a ruckman.

I have to say.... So far.. all of MM trades (the first year he had nothing as he was on book launch duties!) look great.. Doc, Everitt, Tutt, Jones, KJ all offer us something and are a far cry from the trades of Johnson, Collins etc.

The best way to shut people up is to keep winning. Lets hope the Madhouse improves every week.

Just watched the replay late last night.

Lots of individual positives, but the midfield is a worry.

Most of our attacking forays were based on running the ball out of the half back line, which is fine in itself.

But would like to see us win and move the ball more effectively from contested ball situations at set plays.

Gibbs played less than a half.

Murph and Thomas didn't play. Thomas will play mid field this year and Murph is a mid.

That's a midfield.

Yeah
I think we sign up mick for 3 years after winning a practice match :)

There were some good individual performances, but as a team l am not that impressed. We kicked 30 odd points in the 1st qtr and scored how much in the next 3 qtrs?. Will still get smashed by tigers round 1 if they come out playing like they did last year prior to the PTA game. Bombing the ball in to the forward line will not win many games. Good teams will just put the extra player back and defensive rebound each time in to their forward line quickly. Judd will get tagged and so will Yarran.

I would love to see the Blues come out and smash the tiges, but yea. We will see. When we are likely to have 3-5 1st / 2nd year players playing round 1, you will always struggle.

I'm happy seeing a cohesive and vastly improved performance compared to our rookie hit-out in round 1. I can't help but feel it was a contest between two teams that will be middle of the road this year. Take one of Grundy, Cloke or Ben Reid out of the Collingwood line-up this year for any extended period of time and I think they will really struggle.

We looked like a team who had a gameplan and were prepared to stick with it. We looked like we parked the gun and run strategy after quarter time, possibly linked to fitness levels but most probably not wanting to show all our cards in a preseason game.

For me, yesterday's forward three of Casboult, Jones and Henderson will be there against Richmond in round 1 with Jammo, Rowe and Jaksch in the back half.

Agree Dukes - 2 average sides but encouraging performance nevertheless
Good to hang on in a close one -we didn't at all last year really in most close matches

Still improvement required but still improvement/development /potential evident on last year

Hendo and Menzel arguably our best 2 forwards last year didn't do much

Carrazzo and Everett hardly played second half of last year and Judd obviously didn't play half of season as well

Thomas and murphy will strengthen side -so will Kreuz if we ever see him

I thought jones did well - could have kicked 3 - one crumb hit the post

KJ seems a very good pick up in a hendo like performance

Cripps BB and Tutt all looked ok - byrne also looked ok

Midfield of carrazzo gibbs murphy judd bell cripps still pretty good although we do need a few more to rotate through
