There are links at the start of this thread to previous years membership threads.
You can check it there by reading posts at a similar date last year.

How we can claim to still be a power club has me baffled. On and off the field we are 2nd rate.

Irrespective of “type” of m/ships. ARPU (average revenue per user) and any other key financial ratio you wish to apply - we are miles behind.

Glad you said it for me.

We have stagnated as a club.

Sure if we start with 3-4 big wins will help improve numners and maybe get us to 50000, but that's attracting the fair weather types. We need campaigns to turn on to Carlton the fence sitting supporters who don't have team or lack a strong connection with the club they think they barrack for.

Or even ethnic groups or flower marble clubs who may be enticed to join. But you need a sense of belonging first of all. Most current supporters I know don't feel a good connection the the Club.

We live in Sydney. My 10 yr son Carlton is in grade 5. well rounded kid plays AFL, school rugby, swims well and in the last 2 years he has converted dozens of kids to Carlton. if not Carlton is their second team. He interacts with kids consistently over time telling them stories of jezza 1907 1908 1909 premierships, Kouta, syd jackson,Kerna, he takes them to Bluseum...it's a journey reaching
For hearts and minds

..what I'm getting at is Carlton (the club) just have to me smart to tap into 1000's of hearts and minds out there in Melb, Australia wide and abroad every hour ever day. My son is passionate cool and articulate and getsts his point across .
To date 10 yr old Carlton does i better than 150 yr old Carton

I remember Georgr Harris and Jezzas mates wanted to turn us into Manchester United.
We don't have to be that big, nor do we have to sell out but we could have been big.

Club hasn't been smart since. arrogant yes.

It's not about a big club anymore, it's about getting bigger than what we are.

Bondi, you're the cork in the bottle. You better set your son right about that 1909 premiership. (hint: we didn't win, although truth be told, we probably threw it for money, but that's Carlton).

I think the club needs to hire bondibluejnr.

If he can sell memberships based on premierships won 100+ years ago the sky is the limit.

The formula for more members is simple.

Win games of football.

Well in fact he's selling memberships on premierships NOT WON 100 years ago. Even better!

Do you know the ARPU? Or any other ratio?

I was looking at the numbers to try and see if there was a significant boost in membership since leaving PP.
One of the complaints of playing at PP was it wasn't big enough to house all the supporters
There has been an overall trend upwards for memberships at all clubs with the exception of Stkilda which could be related to form - they were heading up until their form slipped

Numbers from 2005- 2014
Coll 38k up to 72 k 89%
Hawks 29 k up to 65 k 124%
Richmond 28k up to 63 k 125%
Carlton 33k up to 45 k 36%
Ess 32k up to 55k 71%
WB 21 k up to 26k 23%
NM 24k up to 34k 41%
Geel 32k up to 40 k 25%
Melb 24k up to 33 k 37%
StKilda 32k down to 29 k - 10%

clearly the move from PP didn't generate the influx of members they thought it would
Form plays a significant part but if the Tigers numbers are true they are clearly the stand out performer of the group

Nothing to do with PP regardless.

We went
33 -28-35-39-42-40-43-45-50-45

Numbers dropped the year we left PP and were trending upwards until last year
It appears on the surface if the expectations of a good year ahead numbers rise

Doesn't explain Richmond though
