When I was growing up it always seemed like we were on the receiving end of more upsets than dishing them out - which stands to reason with us being in the top half of the ladder for most of that time. (How times change!)

But there are still some memories of great days where noone (including myself sometimes  ) gave the Blues much of a chance…

1985 vs Ess, Princes Park - The Bombers were a machine that year, but ran into a wall against us that day. Admittedly they had a few out. Kenny Hunter was at full forward & kicked 5, Ashman kicked a huge torp goal just before half time, & Harmesy gave Rene Kink a bath in a fwd pocket, kicking 4. Carlton by 54 points.

1990 vs Ess, Windy Hill - We actually beat Ess twice in their GF year. A typically strong Essendon* breeze was against us in the 1st but we set up the match by being just a few points down at the break. Buckley & Rhys Jones took over in the 2nd & we won by 20 points.

1991 vs WCE, Princes Park - The Minton Connell goal. Just a great 'I was there that day' match for Blues fans. Ended the Eagles' winning streak.

1992 vs Coll, MCG - The Centenary Match on a Thurs night. We'd just played the Dogs on the Sun before & weren't expected to go the distance with such a short break. But Sticks was too good at full fwd with 7 & we ended up winning comfortably.

And yours....

any against Essendon* - 99, 2000, 2001. Particulalrly that game where we had heaps out injured. And last year in the wet at the 'G. Remember Stevens torpedo goal, and Kouta's grab out of the ruck and snap for goal from the boundary?

There was that time where everyone thought we were going to lose, but we won, by a point, thanks to Fraser Brown, and Dean Wallis, and I don't think it's been mentioned yet... :-D

Perhaps being a little older i can never go past playing Collingwood vs Carlton at PP in 1971.
Imagine being a Pie supporter leading 10.5 vs 3.5(previous GF 10.13 to 4.5)..The Blues kicked 8 goals to the Heatley Stand end in the last quater to knock them over..Memories of 12mths previous must have flooded back!
I can never recall the old stand jumping as it did that day!

The time I won the club table tennis championships at a winter training session.

No-one looked like beating Adam Matthews, and I had a wrist injury as a result of the night before's extra-curricular activities.

Yet somehow I managed to pull off one of the greatest upsets of all time. The kids were stoked!

Sure, Adam nicked the table tennis table straight after that, but I like to think of it as a real Carlton moment.

Round 3 2001..I was on a tram on the way down Flinders St, a bloody awful rainy night, someone on the tram heard on the radio that Braddles, Kouta and SOS were out...nearly got out of the tram right then and went back home!!! Campo was fantastic, Lappo brilliant...his goal with a torp on the run from inside the square was a fond memory!!! One of the all time great wins against one of the all time great teams!!! To me, that is what this club is all about...Special mention to Rats that night also...I remember listening to Dermie on the radio, saying that Rats is taking on the Arsendon midfield by himself and was beating them!!!
