All of a sudden I have doubts.

Was Neil Armstrong the 1st man to walk on the moon?

Did he even walk on the moon, or have they been pulling the wool over our eyes?...

On a serious note (sorry) - I'm going to meet with Mark and a couple of the CFC executive post-season. Anyone who wants to have a serious discussion about the future of the club and to convey their own thoughts as a member prior to the AGM is welcome to join me. The club is yours. Complaining on an internet forum may help your blood pressure, but essentially it is not a medium through which you are heard.

Hey Doc, did you end up going to this yet? A family member when to something on friday at the club and i was just wondering if it was the same thing.

No...I just arrived back in Australia after 3 and a bit months o/s. Once I'm settled back in I'll contact my contact at the club and line something up. Perhaps November. Maybe Steven Trigg might like a chat as well. After having talks with front office staff from the Seattle Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars (NFL), Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers, Colorado Rapids (MLS), Minnesota Twins, Colorado Rockies(MLB), World Golf Hall of Fame and other entities - we're nowhere near doing enough to communicate nor entertain our members/supporters and turning better fan engagement into revenue through member retention and additional sponsorships.

That's the crux of the discussions I want to have. The football department - whilst vital to the operations of the club, is a separate issue.

Doc - I'm a seahawks fan, and I must say the way that franchise engages its fan base is second to none. It permeates throughout the whole organisation as if its their being. They call the fans the 12th man or refer to them as just "12s". Even in the last years' superbowl, one of the players carried a massive 12 flag into the stadium when they were introduced as the NFC champions. The crows actually copied the concept from the seahawks (19th man). Century Link field is their home ground and its the loudest fortress in the world. Opposition teams that play there get caught out with penalties around delay of game, because they are loud and the plays cannot be heard on the ground. It gives the team a massive advantage, and I've witnessed it first hand - its deafening.

I guess what I'm saying is the fans should be the heartbeat of a club - whereby players, staff, administration, always acknowledge the fans, no matter the circumstances.

This fan engagement philosophy and how we've been left behind in this regard.... I reckon it's another example of us falling asleep at the wheel. As a club, we've relied on our on-field performance delivering what the fans wanted. Through the 70s, 80s and 90s, and in hindsight, I got the sense that the club felt that the fans owed the players. They delivered on the field, and we supported them for doing it. We as fans, were supposed to be grateful for being so good (which by the way, we were).

As times changed, both in the sense of our poor on-field performance, and the move towards fan engagement globally, the Carlton Football Club totally ignored fan engagement. They thought selling raffle tickets over the phone at $200 a pop, to go towards player facilities or an end of season trip was supporter engagement. In days gone by, I fell for that bullsh#t. But now, F$&k off. Players can pay for their own end of season trips, and I reckon they should chip in for the best gear too. It might make them appreciate it more, and play better.

The pre-season cancellation of open training sessions, without informing fans, was an absolute disgrace. Absolute total disregard for the fans. There would've been 500 fans there that day, including 100s of kids. The looks on their faces when the players did not come out to train 30min after the scheduled start time, was so sad. And then some young mug from the club came around to fans and apologised that training had been cancelled.

I've been paying $1300 a year for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 boys, aged 11 and 13) premium gold memberships for the last few years, prior to that, I was a social club member for 20 years. Guess what, next year, the club can stick their membership.

I'll buy tickets to games we decide to go to.

Doc, Please pass these thoughts onto MLG and our new CEO.

Yes - it's big news - but hardly surprising. The contract was always going to end this year.

Surprising that they're not renewing it while 2 Pratts sit on the board.

Of course - the smart thing for Ruffy to do would be to replace the Visy name with his own company 'Pact Group'. Pact went public late last year and is a growing business in a very lucrative industry. 'Pact Park' probably shores up Ruffy's position on the board as well.

I'll update the Carlton sponsors in early 2015. Acquire Learning, Star21 etc. Hyundai are through to the end of 2017 also.

There was a whisper on BF last week that one of the factions on the board was going to overpower the other.

If Visy is withdrawing sponsorship, could this mean the Mathieson side has 'assumed' power and the Pratt's are throwing a tantrum??

This:

Quote:
Expect an announcement in the near future (not too sure when) on the club trimming the board (as we have all been expecting). there might also be something which effectively says the club is being run by whoever has the deepest pockets and the board is still split.

There's a fraction too much faction.

So if Bruce has won, does it become Pokie Park?
