Why does Ralph say Robbo and Jeffy are UNRESTRICTED free agents. They're not even free agents. It's not that hard.

Dont they become free agents if the club doesnt offer them a contract?

No. They can only nominate for the draft

They can do whatever they like once they are delisted.

They only become free agents when they are delisted.

If every player out of contract was a free agent - you'd never have any trades again.

I think that you have missed their point. It's one thing to be a larrikin that doesn't affect your performance on the field, it's another thing completely when you can't get a game

Robbo firstly let his teammates down with another suspension although an unlucky one, then let them down again by getting himself injured in a brawl. Worst still he lie's about it which loses some trust.

Garlett can't get a game full stop, not because he is injured or doesn't have the talent, but because he is not putting the effort required to have the great privilege to play this great game in it's highest level.

Both these idiots have not brought into the team ethos that Mick is instilling in this group and if they are not going to be part of the team, then the best thing the club can do is get rid of them and bring in players that want to be part of the team.

Great post.

The new presidents words on the issue were also very encouraging.

If Sticks were still in I'd imagine it would have been something along the "boys will be boys" line

Sticks would have grabbed a slab of crownies and bucket of KFC and chewed the fat with Mitch and Jeffy all night long

Given they didn't sack him on the spot as per Bootsma precedent, one of four things:

a) We're keeping him no matter what and hoping it boils over eventually.
b) We're deluded in the belief that we'll get something decent for him
c) We're hoping to scare him into accepting a lesser contract
d) We're going to take whatever we can for him at trade table.

FWIW ... which probably ain't much ... but one of the early week footy shows seemed fairly universal in the belief there would be few, if any, takers for Robbo. Just interesting for an outside view.

That said, someone would grab him ... if the price was right.

Carlton says Jeff Garlett has this evening been charged with affray in relation to an incident in the early hours of Sunday August 3.

Earlier today Mick Malthouse was talking about the prospect of Jeff Garlett earning a senior call up, now he's been charged by police.

Carlton says Garlett will not travel to Adelaide for game against Port.

Carlton player Jeff Garlett has this evening been charged with affray in relation to an incident in the early hours of Sunday August 3 this year.

Garlett has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on November 3.

He will not travel to Adelaide for Carlton's round 22 match against Port Adelaide on Friday night.

Garlett and the Club have cooperated with police throughout the investigation and Carlton will continue to offer Garlett support throughout this time.

Garlett’s legal representatives will now assess the brief and determine how the case will proceed, but stress he has the presumption of innocence.

As this is an on-going legal matter the Club will not make any further comment.

Makes me wonder.

Robbo was there too. Got a broken eye socket out of it.
I wondered what may have happened to the other 4 blokes who fought our guys.

Robbo said they something like...got king hit and left the scene quickly to avoid an ugly outcome.

Me smell a rat.

It just doesn't add up.

Jeffy is the victim but now gets charged? And a Robbo with the broken eye socket isn't ?
