Agree. Amazingly Jezza only won one b and f and I think that was in the mid 70s when he was playing half back, but our most gifted player. Had everything, could run with his nose on the ground, enormously strong, great leap. Freakish. 1972 grand final was his best performance in a final. 7 goals against Dick Clay, and he'd played all the season as a centreman. Greg Kennedy got dropped for the gf after being full fwd all year.

Super play from a super era.

After kicking 12 goals 3 behinds in Round 21 and actually winning our goal kicking that year, but you would always have Jezza at full forward.

Thought Lethal won 8 of them ?

Absolute freak Jezza ... saw him kick his 100 for the year in 1970 against Melbourne IIRC ... could do anything.

Rare footage, black and white a bit disconcerting, but imagine as a kid going to Princes Park every second week and seeing and expecting that

Mark Maclure was interviewed today on the "JYB - Segment" on SEN during Daniel Harford's show, with Des Dowling (JYB actually stands for Jesaulenko You Beauty).

You could tell in how high esteem that Mark Maclure held Jezza - you can find the PODCAST on the SEN website, I'm sure someone smarter than me can attach the link to this Podcast, half an hour of absolutely riveting listening which I was lucky enough to listen to in its entirety as I drove back to work from an appointment in Rowville, I'm not often in the car these days during the day so it was a lucky break for me.

Its important to keep the memory of our Legends to the forefront of AFL consciousness these days before flowerheads like Mark Robinson try to write them out of the history books.

Jesaulenko You Beauty - indeed.

Quite right. I meant All Australian selection - only the one.

Never forget him signing my autograph book at training before the semi loss to the Filth in 78

Percy wasn't so kind, and turned his back on me and walked back into the rooms

Thank you Yes Man, that should be compulsory viewing for any AFL fan.

The person who found and uploaded that TV footage of Jezza in his debut year should be given Life Membership.

I'm going to pinch this and use it some time. I'm with you.

There's a few more I can give titles putting them on par with the greats.

What's the difference between the 'greatest' and the 'best'?

Nothing, but it's a good use of words when trying to choose between your two children.

It's an excuse for wanting more than one at the pinnacle...something like that.

It's picking the best when you're not picking the greatest.

A drink when you're not having a drink.
