The Mooroopna Cats that is.

Quote:
Mooroopna Football Club has pulled off arguably the biggest coup of the offseason recruiting phase, securing the services of former Carlton and Wangaratta key position player Karl Norman.

Oh you got me!!!

Was almost on the phone to my Geelong supporting mate to ask him about that one.

Nice to see even Karl recognises his AFL career is over.

Recognise? Or told?

I wonder if he'll start hanging around Laurie again. Am suprised Karl didn't sign with Broadford and play with Laurie.

Well I doubt the other 15 clubs have specifically told him he wont be drafted.

Maybe he's decided himself he doesn't want it.

They wouldn't have to.

No phone calls from rival clubs would mean that he is basically been told he is damaged goods.

And what have you seen in the last 2-3 years that makes you think Karl would be smart enough to work that one out...?

Shocking waste of talent.

Forget lost draft picks, financial penalties, home grounds and whatever - Karl and Laurie are the two biggest disappointments of my last couple of years of footy watching.

Peter Motley's loss to the game is probably the only other Carlton player I can think of whose premature loss hurts more. I remember watching him play and thinking - shit - how good is this guy and the best thing is I'm going to get to watch him for the next 10-15 years.

Karl and Laurie had the talent to be quite amazing footballers. The fact they they had to share the one brain cell they were given is proof that if there is a God he's a vindictive, viscious bastard with a seriously warped sense of humour.

So true GWS, we have a club that lacks talent and these two bums have sh#$loads of it and they waste it like that.
IMO Norman could have been the next Ang Christou and Angwin could have been one of the greatest players that ever played for our club.
Depressing stuff!

yet on the other hand those two remind us that we must celebrate the champions because they are rare - we forget just how rare at times.

I'd vote Stephen Oliver as second after Peter Motley. He's still playing isn't he? He could have been a champion for us, but at least he left with dignity (as far as I know).

I never got to see Angwin play...ever.

Sean Charles takes the cake.

Karl's a lad who had a chance but didn't have the focus or drive to accompany his skills. If he'd been born 20 years earlier, he'd have been in his element mucking up with the likes of Buckley, Harmes and Rhys.

Laurie was a freak, singly the most talented player I have ever seen. Absoloute shame he never got his headspace right.

I'll never forget the first half of that practice match against Richmond

I remember that match well - Richmond were well on top until Laurie came on the field and took control until he hurt his shoulder.
