what's happened to the great tackling ability we had?
what's up with hendo? is he injured?
why is Menzel shoved around in position so much?
I thought we were developing him as a forward?
Walker..ok, I hear he is injured..he does not jump anymore.
Gibbs and Yaz..big ticks ..we are getting what we hoped for, and it is hopefully consistent.
Levi...seen glimpses of greatness. he is shoved around in position too.
Warnock?? Who knows..no conistency.
What happens when Kreuzer comes back?
I dunno..morale seems pretty low, and a good coach should at least have the mental aspect of the group happening by now. I use Roosy as Exhibit A here. and Hinkley as B.
We can argue about the talent of the list and we'll never agree. I loved watching the team not so long ago, and now..well gosh it's a struggle isn't it? It's like the players are waiting for next year too, like the supporters, and that aint good surely??
I guess what I'm saying Rhino is..I want to agree with you, but I can't see it the way you do.
Nothing has shown me that this is the way to go. I see an overrated man who wants revenge, and to break a record, and a bad coach who blames his players. i don't see the boys busting a gut to play for themselves ,the jumper or the coach. I reckon that's due to the coach.
I will be happy to be wrong I promise!
Most depressing and joyless footy year ever for me.
TC and 'the' thread..the only pluses.
I agree that everything you've listed there is a legitimate concern. They're there to see on a weekly basis.
I think the difference between us and a Port or a Melbourne, is that there are legitimate obstacles at Carlton in the way to sustained long term success that aren't as easily removed as they were at Port or Melbourne. Obstacles that can take us to the glorious heights of 2011 again, but not much else.
I think the AFL are happy to keep those obstacles - the Pratts, the Mathiesons, et al around as it's one less financial basket case on their hands.
As such, need someone experienced enough to negotiate these obstacles. MM fits that criteria for mine. If the majority of those players on the list are victims of that necessity, so be it. Don't think too much of them anyway.
If the board falls - great, MM should go or a formal handover should be put in place as there was rightly done at Collingwood. He's no longer a necessity, as there would (hopefully) be an environment for the rightful candidate to do his thing.
There's no quick fix here.
