The Carlton Football Club is pleased to announce Vice President Mark LoGiudice will succeed President Stephen Kernahan after the Club’s 150th year celebration in June.

In a unanimous decision by the Board, LoGiudice’s official appointment will take place at the Club’s scheduled board meeting on June 23.

So, what should the new Presidents priorities be ?

“Accepting the role as Carlton’s next president in the year of our 150th anniversary is a humbling experience.

“I would especially like to thank Stephen Kernahan. He has been a tremendous leader of the club, both on the field as a legendary player and off the field leading us through some of the toughest times this club has faced.

“All I wish to say is my approach as president will be to provide the stability and governance to unite all aspects of our club that will help us and enable us to flourish.

“Carlton is a great club despite all the reports over the last few weeks. And the vast majority of us have grown up in an era of great success. And that is what we all want to return to.

“At the appropriate time in the very near future, I will be talking to you in more detail about how we move forward. It’s with a genuine passion for the Carlton football club that I look forward to leading us through the next chapter of our rich history.’’

First order of business, how do you pronounce his surname?

Second order of business, congratulate all for reinstating long distance member voting rights. That was really worth it.

Maybe it's pronounced B-R-U-C-E?

That LoGiudice felt the need to enlist Bruce Mathieson's support indicates he remains hamstrung from the start in leading a club that would do well to walk away from Mathieson's gaming venues altogether.

Mathiesons' now have the numbers....so unlikely that the pokie set-up will change. In fact not a lot will change.

This is my fear.

I guess the only thing we can hope for is that he's not a patsy and will ultimately stand up for himself.

Too much to ask?

He'll put a call through to Bruce first of course...certainly not a good speaker - but doesn't need subtitles to understand. It doesn't really matter who is President though...

Anyone else remember that Commonwealth Bank ad from the 80's

"I see he's putting another two stories on - you went to school with him didn't cha??"

At any rate I went to school with him. From my mid life crisis saddled memory the following is the best pronunciation.
