I said a while ago. Bring back Ratts. He will have learned a lot at the hawks and second time he will (should) feel more secure.

THe process to appoint Ratten and Malthouse was comical - as though it's an amateur grade footy club - no wonder we get the results we get (in addition to recruiting/development issues)

At this point it's the entire culture of the club starting at the boardroom & front office.

Turf everyone, start again.

Tel malthouse that his contract won't be renewed but his job is to cull and blood new players.... He will walk and we can settle for much less

Nice cushy job out of the spotlight in a successful team or return to the club that sacked you after you a 50% win/loss ratio during a rebuilding phase?

No coach will change anything....this list is terrible, our best players are on the wrong side of 30.

Lets not delude ourselves into thinking coaches can polish turds.

Then why did the club spend squillions sacking coaches and squillions hiring Malthouse?

Because the club is run by incompetent fools.

Nah don't sack him, tell mick he isn't coaching for a next contract and that they expect him to blood new players and cull over next few years..... It will take care of itself, MM will run for the hills and we will get out of it cheaply.

I'm still convinced MM is a great coach. What he's lacking at CFC is decent assistants and players with capacity to learn and step up.

He doesn't want decent assistants - he only wants yes men.

Green (green), Capuano, Barker, Wiley (mate), Laidley (mate), Osborne (green)

Again, in any workforce think of the impact statements like "we'll sack 25% of the list at the end of the season" has on morale.

Barker must be the biggest yes man of all.

The coach does not fumble, mis kick, not chase, not follow instructions, make dumb decisions. Having said that, coaches put the systems in place, create the atmosphere and set the tone. A mixture of both I suspect. Where to from here?

We have to get as many decisions right as possible - unfortunately they don't learn from the mistakes they have made in the past (Pagan appointment, Ratten appointment, Malthouse appointment)

The Thomas recruitment will turn out to be a mistake - the amount and contract length greatly reduces the clubs ability to target players who will actually have a long term contribution (which Thomas won't at his age)

Coaching appointments - buggers muddle. List management - buggers muddle. Board appointments - buggers muddle.

I am confident now there are the right people in recruiting now that Hughes is gone and a couple of others have come in - I am confident they are good judges

Do we know this? To me its just as likely he's surrounded by the only blokes the club could afford (after giving him too much money) or because no other candidates (Ling, McLeod) wanted anything to do with our playing list.

And again, if the players can't handle criticism or being challenged to earn their place, then they should @#$%&! right off.
