Hard to get excited for the game when the opposition is tainted.

I'm going to go but I have chosen the say nothing approach. My care factor is zero.

Just hoping for good performances from young players and hopefully a few injuries for Essendon**....I don't normally want injuries for the opposition but @#$%&! them!

I think Ratts best after the home and away was 6th, mm got us to 9th last year, we are getting really desperate if we take credit for a default finals appearance. I wasn't a Ratts fan, but he was getting half the $ Mick's on so MM needs to do better than 9th and this year ain't shaping well.

What are you talking about? The season finishes when you're finished. We finished a losing semi finalist last year. Just like 2011.

You sound like a Collingwood supporter now. They think that if you finish top at the end of the home and away but bomb out in the finals you still ended up the top team. Haha. It doesn't work like that.....

Oh, and Ben Johnston DIDN'T win the Olympic 100 metres, Carl Lewis did. Not by default. Notwithstanding that he was probably also doped up, at the time he won because he was deemed the first clean runner across the line. THERE WAS NO DEFAULT IN OUR MAKING THE FINALS LAST YEAR. WE WERE THE 8TH BEST FINISHER AT THE END OF THE H&A (OF ALL THE CLEAN TEAMS).

THIS!
a pertinent fact that is conveniently overlooked, by the AFL media machine and Essendon* apologists

After watching port run the blowtorch over the crows last night, and only poor kicking costing us a W over richmond, I don't think we're as far away as I first thought.

This will be the litmus test. If we win, our season is back on track if we lose ... I'd be tempted to tank, play the kids and got after a top 3 draft pick.

FMD, Not the litmus test, anything but the litmus test. We never pass that flower.

The paper hasn't turned blue for 15 years!!!!

Or is it red we want? I forget.

I am the opposite. I wasn't as upset about our game against Port who I see as a top 4 side and thought we were good for 3 quarters. But, we were so poor against Richmond that I am thinking we are as bad as people suggest.

Sure we were poor v Tiges, but we got level in the last qtr and had enough chances to win, not a bad sign.

I'm with Braithy, glass half full for me. FWIW, Bombers were cleaned up by both Port and Tigers in the pre/season and Hawks were pretty undermanned the other night, reckon we have a sneaky chance v them this week.

Casboult offers plenty more as a forward than a resting ruck. Also allows Hendo to be a floater. I think cas is slightly more important than we think

I feel the same way.

We have to work with what we've got. Casoult is on our list.
We upgraded him last year after seeing him for 2 years.

Theres 20 more matches to play.
20 more matches to expose 30-35 players.
Casboult will get his chance.

Just so happens Rowe was preferred to replace Kruezer this week.
Rowe was tried at CHB in the practise games. Ok ish.
I think Rowe will be replaced by Casboult and surpassed over the next few weeks.

Rowe is no where near AFL standard.
He's a big body. He is 25 26 yo. IMO No upside and reached hhis ceiling. He's not going to get fastr in body and mind.

Out McLean, Ellard and Rowe
In Walker, Casboult and Graham

Before round 1 I had hopes for 2014.

I wasnt impressed with anything after the 3rdQ against NM.
Albeit Cripps, Bell and Buckley caught my eye and pricked up my ears.

I semi expected/ hoped that:

Kreuzer Casboult, Bell and Graham would have break out years.
Judd Murphy Gibbs Curnow Simpson Walker Carrazzo McLean, Curnow would be fighting fit from round 1
Yarran and Garlett would improve their engine and play cameos in the middle.
A better Yarran Garlett Menzel to easily cover the loss of Betts to that group.
Hendo Waite Kruezer would be formidable targets forward.
Everitt will be a great swingman and Jamison and Watson to hold down KPB posts.

We are playing Essendon* this week and they are in top form.
We have Kreuzer, Watson, Casboult Judd and Carrazzo missing from this weeks line up
That alone swings the odds Essendon*'s way imo.

We can add Cripps and Watson to the squad to help out.

I'd drop Rowe for Casboult
Walker for Brock
Graham for Ellard
Cripps????? I'd like.....for...???

I am undecided if i will go to this game. Sunday night again and the thought of getting smashed.
I am really peeved at ticket prices too, last Thursday i paid an extra $24 for a reasonable seat that last year cost $14. The only areas that are put aside for general admission are about 6 sections on the top deck of the Southern stand and they leave the top of the Ponsford 3/4 empty.
But apparently crowd sizes are all Victoria Cricket's fault.

Technically Carl Lewis cheated too he just didn't get caught.

Let's hope Essendon* is more like the canadian drug cheat than the american one. Never trust those with red in their uniform.
