Pathetic coaching.

Play one on one footy.
Play our FF from the square.
No more spare man in defence.
No more boundary line.
No more long kicking to an opposition advantaged defence.
Attack through the middle of the ground.
Teach them to run and block , not run for a receive all the time.
and for god sake practice set shots every day.

You are there to teach, so teach them how to shepherd, lead, use the handball as a weapon and for !@#$ sake work out our midfield extractions.
Nearly every other team set up their teams to use and work with each other to get a productive clearance. What we do is bomb the ball blindly most of the time because there is no support, no understanding, no cohesion, no talk.

Stop acting like an old sook and !@#$% coach.

..some of the complaints about mm coaching and your suggestions, don't fit.. ..I think some of what you want, mm wants too.. ..I think this, cos it's what he has coached in the past.. ..blocking,,team work is mm mantra.. ..but mm plan takes a lot of work, mental and physical, even the slightest breakdown and it crumbles.. ..our shite play isn't what he coaches, a bit might be but lazy dumb footballers won't adhere to any plan.. ..they just wanna run and gun shootout style, it's what they like and they rebel against any sort of real plan..

It's time. Until we do we will simply float around the middle part of the ladder.

I think we have something to work with. These days the system is designed to benefit teams with inferior lists. You sakc the duds and headhunt the stars. There are two goldmines to the north of us. We just have to target those we want/need and go mad-dog until we get 'em.

With Menzel, Buckley, Cripps look good, Bell and Yarran, Graham and Tuohy we have some young blokes who could have 8-10 years of footy in them...........okay, that might be a little generous to Bell, but the others are definite possibilities.

We need to draft a BIG MOBILE ruckman. We need to recruit a BIG key defender so that Hendo is relieved from the #1 job in defence each week, we need.......arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh............................................. whatsthepoint......... :|

I'm going fishing.

That's the key post of this thread...

And the weak Board that appointed sticks as President.....

don't THINK total rebuild on -field is required but need to augment team with young players ie get games in them and make hard call about the future of some players marking time or getting to the end

Henderson Jamison tuohy murphy simpson gibbs kreuzer Warnock yarran mclean(ordinary last night) garlett (ordinary last night) are a base to build around

As for off-field you all know my views see ineptitude post

Looks and sounds like MM is working at his own plans at the moment and winning these first few games might not be the highest priority. Talks a lot about getting fitness and touch into a core group of players.

I don't see a "play the kids" scenario happening at the moment and i don't think the club would like us to be the new Melbourne in our 150th year.

I'd say the kids will play, but in small rotations through the senior side. Can't see more than a a few in the team at any one time.

Agree Crimm the club will not want us to be the new Melbourne in 150 th year but in truth in the long term what is better for the team going forward - better to be realistic about playing list now than wait to half way through season when it is even clearer we are not good enough - everyone in the footy world realises we are not good enough - shouldn't try to sugercoat just because of a celebration year - this sort of thinking ie myopic and looking in the past by our management and board is what got us in the situation in the first place

I hear ya.

But I also don't think that there's a lot of benefit to the kids if they all run out together and get smashed. If Graham, Cripps, Holman etc join Menzel and Buckley it might get ugly.

Still reckon being as competitive as you can be, while having an eye to development, has it's place.

..agree with cimm, we do play kids, we did last year too.. ..but you can't play too many at the same time.. ..the team has too many flaws to fast track the kid's development all together.. .but we will see them get their chances over the year..

The other key is that MM's contract must not be extended beyond next year.

We will be 1 and 7 at best leading into the bye week
Mick will be lucky if he sees out this year and if he does the club has rocks in it's head
The more of these Honorable losses you have the closer you are to a massive thumping
I think it is coming next week

I agree be competitive but renovate at the same time when you have the rowe /Watson option you don't keep turning every so often to rowe - if you have lucas or Scotland option you go lucas - if you have cripps /ellard you go cripps - maybe not exactly like for like in every case but you get my drift

Turned the ball over 36 times by foot directly to Richmond players with Bell, Robinson & Lucas amongst the main offenders. We need to start recruiting players who can hit a target to complement Murphy, Gibbs & Thomas.

hahaha u can do anything u like with the playing list... but you need to go through the club with a broom....
start at the top with the Oligarchs...
and work your way down... leave no stone unturned.
Thats how you do it....!!!!

is there any wonder why Oligarchs dont really want a total review of the club from top to bottom???

it will find their fingerprints all over whats been going on.
