After a summer of pondering, taking in the views of the TC brotherhood and trying to interpret the signals coming out of the CFC, here we go:

B - Simpson, Jamison, Everitt
HB - Tuohy, Watson, Walker
C - Gibbs, Carrazzo, Yarran
HF - Thomas, Henderson, Menzel
F - Garlett, Waite, Robinson

R - Warnock, Judd, Murphy

Inter - McLean, Bell/Graham, Kreuzer, Curnow

Too much time on my hands, the rest:

B - Temay, White, McInnes
HB - Scotland, Giles, Bootsma
C - Lucas, Cachia, Docherty
HF - Ellard, Rowe, Armfield
F - Buckley, Casboult, Reynolds

R - Wood, Cripps, Graham/Bell

Inter - Whoever's left..

No Judd for the first 6 weeks or so you'd think after the achilles injury

Provides an opportunity for Graham etc

First two weeks at least - with two teams with no real third tall, I'd go with a view toward:

B Simpson Jamison Docherty
HB Scotland Everitt Walker
C Gibbs Murphy Thomas
HF Carrazzo Waite Tuohy
F Garlett Henderson Yarran
R Kreuzer McLean Curnow
INT Armfield, Casboult, Menzel (sub), Bell

You ought to leave out Henderson and Docherty.

Hendo will be out that long? Eesh....

Watson had better be ready to go. A lot of the flexibility Mick is talking about is tied up with Hendo.

You think Richmond wont go with three talls Rhino?

I think they will play Reiwoldt, Vickery & Maric/Hampson up forward. Maybe Aaron Edwards?

Not after we've run over the top of them the last three games.

I reckon teams will be spooked by the prospect of losing games as a result of not heeding the impact of the rotation cap, and will be conservative with their team selection early on. Vickery, Maric and Hampson is overkill even without an interchange cap.

In recent years, we've been happy to let McGuane or Miller do what they please, and be happy with the extra run. Don't think we'll change that. Hendo out may force it.

If Hendo/Doc no good, I'd bring McInnes and White in to that lineup.

Be interesting. Hampson and Maric will play as will Riewoldt. It may well depend upon form of Vickery in lead up as to whether he gets a game. Weather may have an impact as well.

My early guess for Round One:

B: Simpson Jamison White
HB: Tuohy Watson Everitt
C: Yarran McLean Thomas
HF: Bell Waite Gibbs
F: Garlett Kruezer Walker
Foll: Warnock Curnow Murphy
Int: Graham Ellard Carrazzo Menzel

I believe Judd, Henderson, Docherty & Scotland won't be available.
It's scary that a guy that we "fluked" in the trade with Brisbane is now probably our most important player.
Curnow will get Boak & Cotchin. Two guys he towelled up last year.
I think White will play, especially with Henderson out as he can go forward and is a very good shut down player. That forces McInnes out. It also pushes Walker forward.
Everitt on a flank. I don't see him as a tall, third man defender, His best football is as a runner. Can swap with Walker.
May go with another tall in Casboult/Rowe but depends upon matchups and weather.
Watson at CHB worries me but he has to stand up.
Lots of rotations and run.
I'd like to see Cripps etc but I'd also like to see them earn their spots.
It leaves Robinson & Lucas out but they could easily play instead of Bell and/or Ellard. I just think MM is a fan of Ellard and Bell's pre season has been 1st class.

4 talls down back, and 2 ruckman, and then Casboult/Rowe potentially on top of that?

It's not 4 talls. Everitt is not a tall in terms of the way he plays. He is a running HBF in the same way Walker plays. Every time he has been used as a key position player or manned up a taller opponent he has struggled. It's not his go and I don't believe its why he has been recruited. He is a similar height to Andrew Mackie. His best football at Sydney was off HB in a more mobile role.

I also said that Casboult/Rowe MAY be an option but I didn't go with it.

Anyway just MY opinion.

i reckon you nail it with that starting 22 - especially against a potentially tall tigers (white presents a potentially good option against edwards who murdered us in the first half of the elimination final)

and you are right, everitt is a tallish running HB. with Hendo out, young watto needs to stand up.

ps nice position to be in to have to make robbo and lucas work hard and be disciplined to get a gig

all signals suggest Kruezer will play fwd when not rucking. Not so sure about warnock being able to do the same. Walker fwd presents a marking option given his jump and presents a tougher match up if kruezer can take out a big fella from the opposition

Suprised so many have Everett in the 22. Still to prove himself (praccy and NAB games a chance). I'd have several in front of him. McInnes included

Everitt: good enough for swans is good enough for me.

MM can't promise a game to anyone but when he wooed him to CFC he wouldn't have done that without a definite role to play.

I'm looking forward also to a few players more having to earn their spots

True but they traded him for SFA. Remember Ricky Mott?

Agree that fighting for spots is a luxury we haven't had so much in recent years

Tuohy Jammo McInnes
Simmo Watson Walker
Lucas McLean Thomas
Gibbs Levi Menzel
Garlett Waite Yarran

Foll: Kruez Murphy Scotland
Int: Carrots Curnow Robbo Armfield Sub
Emerg: Warnock Docherty Bell

Expecting disagreement over Warnock Scotland and Watson :fight:

BTW, thanks for the comment. I don't get many :thanks:

No probs re: comment, hard to get a rouse out of the veterans here sometimes!

No probs re: Special K generally but not sure he'll be fully fit for round one?

Scotland part of the midfield rotation? Not sure because of his age. I'd do 3 way swap with Walker (HF) and Gibbs (mid). Otherwise looks great.

There is some classy talent running both sides of the teamsheet. Let's hope the big guys down the middle can hold their own.

Warnock or Kruezer I don't really care. They each bring something different. I only picked both because Henderson is out. Personally I'd like to see one supported by Casboult or Rowe.

Scotland I think will become a bit of a "super sub" late in the year as we near finals.

Watson, I picked him but I'm not convinced. More in hope than anything else. I actually don't see him in our BEST 22.

There's something floating about re: Henderson & the last praccy match vs WBD, here's hoping he's on course.

HS are on for Docherty for NAB Challenge & rnd1 debut but training reports would seem the suggest otherwise.
