hyundai were our major sponsors for 1995 were they not?

If my memory serves me correctly I think hyundai managed to sponsor the premiers in both major codes in Australia that year.

1995 Carlton (Premiers AFL)
1995 Canterbury Bulldogs (Premiers ARL) - just before Super League got going.

100% accurate all of the above, was going to post the same info but SPF has beaten me to it.

And in '87 both teams were sponsored by Avco, and both teams took out their respective premierships.

Freaky huh?

Really? Did AVCO sponsor Manly in '87? I really thought it was Wormald although I may be wrong.

AVCO was from 1977 to 1988, CUB 1989 - 1994 & Hyundai 1995 - 1999 and then after that there was a spread

Was Avco our first on-jumper sponsor?

53? I actually have one like it. Got it '85. SOS's number 1 on the back. No CFC monogram at the top though. Those ones came from the VicMarket.

I think my mum tossed my one out I bought in 1981 - I remember buying it from MSD in the city on a Friday after selling papers in the city. I already had Ken Sheldon on my jumper and duffle coat so I went to Royal Arcade in Bourke Street and had them transfer Ken Hunter's No.9 on it.

It wasn't like the one depicted here as it had no white trim, monogram or I think a VFL logo either - it was the full stretchy elastic type with just AVCO on the front

Loved it and it was my training Guernsey at school and club footy

That was a pre-season pic for 1976 - we first wore the AVCO logo in Rd 4 1977 Vs Hawthorn.
