Watching the Wallabies v Ireland on the weekend and it struck me how the Irish shade of green with the white shorts is a simple yet striking strip.

With the influx of Irishmen on our list, the potential to involve Visy in sponsorship somehow and the fact that no other club uses green at all(as opposed to the multitude of white strips), what do you think about using a straight swap of navy blue for Irish green a couple of times a year?

Could be lucrative in getting the many ex-pats to join a club if done say as a request to always host a blockbuster to start the season on St Patrick's Day.

Just a thought that I'm sure could be fleshed out in a bit of detail if people got behind it.

Green on footy jumpers is rarely attractive.

So why the need for the clash jumpers....They all look like crap.
We didnt need clash jumpers for over 100 or so years before so why now?
Who in blazes do we clash with?
OK... Freo is the only one that has popped to mind that might be tricky, but what's wrong with away side wearing white shorts?
Kinda sorts itself out really.
I really miss those traditional clashes with clubs wearing their traditional jumpers....Interstate sides ....well who cares...
Call me old fashioned but how come no one had any issue before?

Tis a great jumper the Tooradin Football Club has.

Spell it backwards, it's even better!

Read somewhere that next year's clash jumper will be some grey version. Anything is better than this year's disaster ensemble (white jumper and white shorts), but watching Vic Country, I don't mind the idea of this year's jumper with navy shorts. Although the shorts kinda disappear when the jumper isn't tucked in...hmmm...

Does this Club have 'official' colours?

I hate this year's clash jumper. I preferred the one with some blue down the side.
I read somewhere too that the players wanted a different jumper, I cant remember where I read it but it did mention a grey version.
What shits me is that we have to wear it against teams that have only recently come into the competition and the AFL have allowed them to wear colours that clash with clubs that have been in the competition for over a century.

This is the jumper that Freo had when they came into the competition.
Now they have a jumper that is so dark purple that it looks navy. If they just stuck to their original jumpers we would not have to wear an insipid white clash jumper against them.

The current one is good. What's the issue with a clash jumper that's basically a straight inverse of the home? Does what it's designed to do.

And insipid white? Not our preferred strip obviously, but people make such an issue out of something we wear four or five times a season.

Back in white

Carlton Football Club is pleased to inform its members and supporters the Club will be wearing an alternate clash strip in season 2019.

Collaborating with long-term partner Nike, the Blues have listened to their fans and will next year be playing in a predominantly white clash guernsey.

Carlton CEO Cain Liddle said the Club was pleased to be back in its traditional colours of navy and white, and acknowledged the feedback of fans throughout season 2018.

“We’ve taken on board the subsequent feedback received during the year from our members and supporters in relation to the grey clash guernsey, with the preference being to see the Blues play in our traditional navy and white.

“We’ve listened to our stakeholders and as we’ve done in previous years, we’ll be running out in a predominantly white clash jumper next season.”

While the Club’s preference is always to wear its navy home jumper, Liddle said requirements set by the AFL have meant this hasn’t always been possible, due to games in which there is a guernsey clash with an opposition team.

“Naturally we would always prefer to wear our iconic navy blue jumper, however we are directed by the AFL on when we are unable to do so, and clash games are an example of this. That being said, whenever we are unable to wear our traditional navy blue, we will be reverting to the traditional white clash,” Liddle said.

I agree.

If you have to do it (which we do, deal with it people), then the simpler, the better.

Correct TBB...
and after 6 years, seems we've already run out of options
