He hasn't got the ball to make it to AFL standard.

South & Glenelg played the last Good Friday down at Noarlunga in the SANFL.

Started later (more twilight time), had a more restricted booze license, but the BBQ was firing!

Really good crowd, probabaly double for a "normal" game between these 2 clubs.

The guy harping on about Good Friday more than any other is Swann. Sounds like the most desperate guy leading a team.
It is always the weaskest clinging onto straws tightest.....This might save Swann for another season.....
He eeds to hang his stuff on things... he just doesnt have many except for Collingwood pegs

A Good Friday blockbuster is a lay down misere. Of course I'd love to have Carlton playing one of the big Melbourne clubs at the MCG, but I'd probably go to any other big game at the G on that day. It's the perfect day for football, and nothing else to do. Channel 7 may have a conflict, in that TV coverage of the game would interrupt their continuous telecast of the RCH Good Friday Appeal, and likely affect donations. The RCH has owned Good Friday for decades, one of the great charitable marketing coups of all time, and would be reluctant to "share" the day unless there was a quid pro quo. Of course the AFL has no obligation to the Good Friday Appeal, but to ride roughshod over a beloved children's charity that has owned the day would not be great PR. For this reason, linking gate receipts to the Good Friday appeal would likely be a win win win for football, the RCH, and Channel 7 advertising revenue, and an obvious solution. Having been on the senior medical staff at the hospital for over 20 years, I know the RCH would be happy with this.

For me, Carlton vs Collingwood (or Richmond, but not Essendon* or North or any other bullshit club) on Good Friday at the G would be awesome.

Carlton and North have been pushing for this for nearly 10 years. If we can lock it in as a yearly match, great.

If anything, I think footy coverage would be a bigger enticement for decent sized companies to get involved in the donations to the Good Friday Appeal.

"Some cauliflower's liquor store pledges $50 for every goal Jack Riewoldt kicks....."
"For every touch Chris Judd gets, the local pornography store will be kicking in $20, and a copy of People for every sick kiddie in the hospital. Boy oh boy! Wowee!"

Could easily put the coverage on 7Mate as they did during the Royal Wedding. Personally, I think a day game at the 'G followed by Gold Coast vs.... whoever kills two birds with one stone.

Would like to see greater detail before the club got involved. Would we be sacrificing an extra G home game to get the Good Friday game, and as a result, possibly be worse off financially? Split the takings? Impact on membership packages? Reassurance of decent fixturing the week before, as to avoid a short week in preparation wise?

im always thinking so i always post before i finish and then retun to post again.
Cretty and I have been seen in the same room at the same time :smoking:
But i seriously cant get over the people who cant do one day without entertainment spoon fed into their lives.

Its astonishing! (Cret loves to use the word "astonish")

To me it says alot about those people ... not about whether Good friday footy is a needed thing.
Like i keep saying.. Im Orthodox and whilst this year we share Easter with everybody else.. on the whole we dont.. and i always take my Good Friday off...never would i go to a footy game on Orthodox Good friday.. i have family stuff on and i love it...

Footy doesnt define everything about who i am and what makes me a man...it doesnt rule every ast aspect of my life and drive me. (Though it does come close at times)

On heretic Good friday  ill make sure ill use it with my gf... who by the way isnt Greek or Orthodox or religious in any way or form...

But we would probably go off to a winery.. and come back and make a dinner and drink a red or something...

I seriously do not get the what i believe is the dumbed down brigade who cant do a thing without being spoonfed entertained.. hard wired to their phone or music.comp..tv. or media player .. or whatever 365 days a year....

Truly one of the most pathetic existences known IMO.. and i dont think most are aware of it.
At least ill have set days ill put 99% of that down

Close down TC for the day for all i care.... i love Good friday.. both of them!!!

Try to learn to entertain yourselves also....actually camelboy i am surprised at you...i dont care if youre atheist or secular.. but the fact that u cant find anything to do and you are hoping for what may theoretically and potentially be a lions v gws game as something that will infinitely improve your lifestyle... its incredible..!.. i wonder if anybody thinks about anything anymore....

it really is the valley of the zombies

others call for "the people have spoken.. we need it!"
errr actually most people in this country dont give a @#$%&! about footy..
i have people that pop into my workplace and on a fridays i say to them.. "who do u barrack for..?.. going on the weekend??.."
They often reply... "Dont care about footy.. kind of hawthorn but dont really follow ".. or whatever..

i think what most people in here are actually saying is ..." i wanna be enteratined ... im boring.. and the royal childrens appeal doesnt do it for me...."

very bizarre !! :yikes:

If the decision is based on reason and good business sense then it will be Friday footy.

If emotional nonsence then no footy (except the NRL).

Anyway it would be good for the churches to have to compete for it's parisheners. Competition is what keeps Christianity strong in the United States. Europe where it was all institutionalised into the state have had a huge reduction in Christian faith. Niall Fergusson's book on the Civilization West versus the Rest developes this point very well.

why is good business sense more important than good social sense??

thats something i need explained to me..why does money take precedence over community skills....

noone even says hello on the street to strangers anymore....

we were always taught to do that back in the day

community and society.. back seat to marketing and dollars for corporations

Who the @#$%&! died and made you God synbad. Just because you have an opinion on something it doesn't make you right. Just because you want to spend your time with your girlfriend it doesn't give you the right to tell others how to behave. You have no right to call others zombies or dumbed down because they choose to do something on Good Friday that you don't.

While I wouldn't go watch a game I can't see why others couldn't.

Having a game of footy on Good Friday will hurt no one. It's just an option and people can make up their own minds
You forget, going to the footy is a family Affair for many people.

Really!
